totally off topic, but

did anyone watch E:60 last night on the wwl? it might have aired originally before that, i don’t know.

they did a story on a prince from saudi arabia. he’s a huge fantasy football nut, playing in like 16 leagues a year.

he’s also a huge 49ers fan, and is setting up his finances with the intention of buying the team in around three years.

super weird.

also rush limbaugh is talking about buying the st. louis rams. barf. there’s a joke about a republican and a saudi arabian prince owning teams in the same division somewhere in there.

seems a little drastic.

In the world I see--you are stalking elk through the damp canyon forests around the ruins of Rockefeller Center. You'll wear leather clothes that will last you the rest of your life. You'll climb the wrist-thick kudzu vines that wrap the Sears Tower. And when you look down, you'll see tiny figures pounding corn, laying strips of venison on the empty carpool lane of some abandoned superhighway.

Anybody else sick of Glaus crying after striking out?

I’unno, I just can’t like the guy much after watching him do that after EVERY strikeout, including when the team is winning a blowout. It says “I care more about my personal achievements than my team winning.”

by ANDYAK47 on Aug 27, 2008 10:04 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yeah

he’s almost always right. Cuzzi needs to be sanctioned, suspended for a week or something. That second called strike was almost certainly retribution for arguing the first (blown) one (in that at bat, 3rd or 4th of the night on the same batter), and that is not acceptable behavior from an umpire.

I don't like his attitude

The team is up by 9. Why cry? You’re winning. That tells me he only cares about one thing: his stat line.

He shows himself up

by hacking blindly at Ball 1/2 after a strike. He tries to imagine the ball is the ump’s head or something.

My pal, a Jays fan, says he used to complain of the same thing. Guess it’s the way he is; regardless, I don’t want that in a ball player. I want a smart ball player who is relaxed and can fixate himself on one thing: the pitch that’s coming to him, not the one that just passed him.

by Zoop on Aug 27, 2008 10:19 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

your definition of class

is… unique.

You could say he lacks grace, imo, but class is something different. Especially if he is right.

Though I think his arguing is becoming counterproductive; he probably gets bad calls based on his reputation.

Interesting

I myself, used to be a fan — mostly for my love of Jason Kidd’s sound fundamental game. Still hanging in my closet at my parent’s house are four NBA jersees…Jason Kidd’s #32, Charles Barkley’s #34 and KJ – Kevin Johnson #7. And I almost exclusively play as the Suns in my old SNES NBA Jams.

The fourth jersee, by the way, is Tony Kukoc — since I was sick of seeing every single person with a Jordan, Rodman or Pippen. And frankly, I was a super fan of The Croatian Sensation

I once shot a man just to see him die...then I got distracted and missed it.
