Always remember; it could be worse
A new, attractive, second grade teacher starts at her new job in the Chicago area. To impress the children, she starts by saying ‘I like baseball, which of you also like baseball?’. Logically, all the little kids go: ‘me’, ‘me’, ‘me’. ‘And what’s more, I’m a Cubs fan. Who of you is a also Cubs fan?’. And again, all the kids go ‘me’, ‘me’, ‘me’. All but one. So she asks him: ’you’re not a Cubs fan?’. ‘No miss, I’m a Cardinals fan’. She asks ‘And why are you a Cardinals fan?’. ‘Well,’ he says, ‘my father is a Cards fan, my mother is a Cards fan, so I’m a Cards fan as well’. ‘Oh’, says the teacher, ‘so because your father is a Cardinals fan, and your mother is a Cardinals fan, you’re a Cardinals fan?’. ‘Yes, that’s right’, says the kid. ‘And what would have become of you if your father was dwindling gay and your mother was a smelt like elderberries?’. ‘Well’, says the kid, ‘then I would probably have been a Cubs fan to’.

I came into this series as a fan wanting a sweep
but ok with a split. The Brewers have a tough schedule ahead of them as well so we can come back. We will probably not do so. But we have a much better chance if we win tomorrow. Go Waino, Go Cards. Do not give up and keep on chugging. Hell maybe we have a ten game win streak in us or something

Unfortunately
It simply isn’t true that the Brewers have a tough schedule ahead of them.
From a Cardinal’s perspective, this could be especially true, because the Cubs may have nothing to play for in the final series.

Tony La Russa's theme music for this season
“My Way” by Frank Sinatra
And now, the end is here
And so I face the final curtain
My friend, I’ll say it clear
I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain
I’ve lived a life that’s full
I traveled each and ev’ry highway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Regrets, I’ve had a few
But then again, too few to mention
I did what I had to do and saw it through without exemption
I planned each charted course, each careful step along the byway
And more, much more than this, I did it my way
Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew
But through it all, when there was doubt
I ate it up and spit it out
I faced it all and I stood tall and did it my way
I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried
I’ve had my fill, my share of losing
And now, as tears subside, I find it all so amusing
To think I did all that
And may I say, not in a shy way,
“Oh, no, oh, no, not me, I did it my way”
For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught
To say the things he truly feels and not the words of one who kneels
The record shows I took the blows and did it my way!
Cardinal fan in the heart of Braves country

Those expecting a Rasmus call-up in Sept, won't like this.
From the Matthew Leach article on MLB.com.
“He hasn’t been playing,” La Russa said. “We haven’t had the meeting officially, but I just don’t think [he will be called up]. He hasn’t earned it. Injuries are injuries, but you can’t reward somebody because of it.”

I hate the "he hasn't earned it line."
If it was about earning things, they would have put him in the OF after Spring Training. I get there are other baseball decisions but TLR is full of crap when he talks about earning things.

Too bad he can't just say
that it is a monetary decision. Don’t think that quote would go over any better though…. He isn’t being called up because any money paid to him and any out of pocket costs for him comes right out of the annual profits. The front office’s bonus would be directly impacted and we can’t have that….

I don't get why people still complain about Rasmus not making the roster out of ST
It was stated publicly and was a well-known fact that he was going to start the season at AAA. There was always a possibility that he’d get a call around September (maybe sooner if the team was in the cellar), but his poor start coupled with his knee injury took that possibility away. It’s not the end of the world.

I can’t use the reply button at work (not sure why) so I’m replying down here.
To quote TLR in Spring Training (2/29): “If spring training ended tomorrow,” Tony La Russa said, grinning, “he’d have a hell of a shot.”
Or this one: “La Russa said aptitude at leadoff might decide the derby in the outfield, or score a spot in the middle infield. If everything else is a tie, the hitter who excels atop the order wins.”
I don’t have a problem that they started him in Memphis. I’d prefer that they call him up in September but I’m not heartbroken about it (although I’d say they’re mishandling another prospect). But their answers about the situation don’t make sense to me and seem to be counter to previous statements. Rasmus in ST may have been ticketed for Memphis early, but that was never the public remarks.

I agree that the comment "he hasn't earned it" is odd
But he hasn’t. Now, personally, I wouldn’t have said a word about it if it were me. If asked, I’d simply say that the timing is bad due to the injury or whatever.
As for the spring training comments. I’m not sure who it was, but somebody said it. Might have been a beat reporter or someone, but I know I heard it. Also, I think it’d be hard to say that any of us felt his time would have been better spent at St. Louis than at Memphis. He didn’t exactly tear the cover off the ball, so the decision was justified. Also, I think some miss the boat on what the “criteria” might be to determine who won a position battle. I don’t think i’ve ever heard LaRussa say it will come down to the stats. You and I both know that manager or coach looks at a lot more than stats. It also depends on what the role is and personally I feel Skip was a better fit for the role than Rasmus was. Where would Rasmus hit in the lineup? Well, the spot Skip holds primarily is leadoff. I really wouldn’t want to stick Rasmus at lead off sink or swim.
Look, the guy just turned 22 years old and put up a line of .251, .346, .396 at AAA and just missed a month with a knee injury. There’s no rush to get him on the roster right now.
