You know, Lopez at short hasn't looked that bad.

Do you think his fielding has suffered because of lack of effort? His hitting certainly has looked better, now that his head is in the game.

Range at short would seem to be especially prone to variation due to effort, or lack thereof.

why pull piniero here?

up by six, he’s at 81 pitches, why not try to get 7 or 8 out of him? he’s not exactly an injury risk, and our bullpen is overworked…

I don't think you can

earn a save in a blowout, regardless of how many innings you pitch.

by Red in Chicago on Aug 16, 2008 9:17 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

yeah, the rule is:

Rule 10.20 in the Official Rule Book states:
Credit a pitcher with a save when he meets all three of the following conditions:
(1) He is the finishing pitcher in a game won by his club; and
(2) He is not the winning pitcher; and
(3) He qualifies under one of the following conditions:

- (a) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and pitches for at least one inning; or
- (b) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck (that is, the potential tying run is either already on base or is one of the first two batsmen he faces; or
- (c ) He pitches effectively for at least three innings.

i think izzy has ben sliding for the last several years.

injuries aside, he has had an inordinately high number of baserunners in many situations. though he got out of many of those situations, i think it reflected a gradual loss of faith in his pitches. basically walking the tightrope and finally fell off. i seriously doubt he can get back up on the rope.

the 2 girls I wanted to come didn’t show up (one didn’t find it, the other has disappeared), and a few people that I expected to visit didn’t come (although they’ll be there next saturday). the other 3 artists have amazing work, one an illustrator, one who does surrealism and is just amazing (Jolan Emamali), and this girl who did large photographs. I put in abstract paintings as well as digital imaging stuff printed onto canvas (which showed up at the last minute). by the end of the night I was absolutely plastered on champagne, wine and high life, hence why I just started drinking now.

Why is the MIL/LA game

using the FSN Wisconsin feed on MLB.tv? That means no Vin Scully. :(

it's on local LA TV, KCAL channel 9

and they dont allow EI or MLB TV to show their feeds. just like KSDK channel 5 does in the STL.

Really?

Because I know I have seen KCAL on MLB.tv before, but it was during Spring Training.

i did not know that

i just know when i asked DTV EI & MLB about it last year thats what they told me. there was a Cardinals game vs LA & it wasn’t on EI, so earlier in the week i sent off some emails & both DTV & MLB said KCAL & KSDK had not given MLB the right to broadcast their games. since neither one is on the package this year i assume that was still the case.

KSDK

has been the feed on MLB.tv this year. But I live outside of the St. Louis market. Does that make a difference? I thought we all got the same feed on MLB.tv.

by cardsgirl95 on Aug 16, 2008 11:35 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

not on DTV EI

on Sunday afternoons, which is when KSDK has all of their games, we have only gotten the other teams feed. thanks for the heads up, DTV & MLB are getting some more emails.

i live in ohio. so i try to watch only the Cardinals side of the broadcast. i’m weird like that.

OK, i am officially going to the game tomorrow

sadly, i cannot take a sign because i’ll be in box seats & they dont allow them. but i might take a note book & a marker & see what happens.

look for us when a lefty is up, our seats will be over his left shoulder between the plate & the Reds dugout in the second row. i’ll be in a blue away game Cards hate & blue Oakley’s. and maybe a white Cardinals T-Shirt. i’m pretty pumped except we get to face Volquez. hopefully Lohse gets his grove back.

i’ve never seen a Cardinals victory. i’ve been to about 20 games, most of them in the 80’s & early 90’s & they’ve lost every single time. here’s hoping my luck will change. if they lose tomorrow, it’s probably all on me. so i apologize to every one in advance. i’ll take a ton of pics & put them up on here & my own site as well.

great win tonight. i didn’t get to see the O go off, but i did see the last two innings. here’s hoping they get the sweep tomorrow.

yeah i just checked, i'm 0-25

talk about bad freaking luck. sheesh.

i wasn’t planning on going to BP. dont the Cardinals not take BP when it’s a day game on a get away day? if they are taking it i might show up earlier. its going to take 1 1/2 to get there, so i was planning on getting to the parking garage around noon. there’s a parade going on down there too so some streets are closed. so my “normal” route has been changed. my brother is going with, we are sitting in his buddy’s family’s seats, and he’s not a morning person, so i’m going to have to beat & drag him just to get him up.

I got there early tonight and got to see the Cards take BP

Albert hit a couple of balls over the fence, as did Glaus and Shu…..it was kind of a preview of what was to come in the game!! I had a great time and got to see a Cardinal win I hope you do as well tomorrow…have fun!!

Maybe

The runner was going and Hardy was trying to make a great play instead of just getting an out.

Also I love players like Blake

who swing at boarderline pitches after the pitcher has just thrown 5 straight balls. with the bases loaded I might add

Just got back from the game!!

I am thrilled to see Albert go deep twice!! It was homerun derby there with Shu, Ludwick & Albert. Even the Reds hit a couple of dingers. This was my first and probably only game I will get to go to this season…but it was a great one!! It was a pretty good crowd for the Reds although I would say about 35-40% of the fans there were Cardinal fans. I saw A TON of people wearing Cards shirts and hats. But the good thing is Cincy is a great town and has great fans that are nice and they don’t give you crap for wearing Cardinal gear. Good night indeed!!

I hope we can take the game tomorrow for the sweep.
