There’s only a limit in gymnastics, I think. Great Britain has a 14 year-old kid diving in the men’s competition.

Studying the satellite images
Looks like there is a blob (that’s a technical term, BTW) of T-storms right around the stadium, with rain around that. Winds are only 7 mph, so it could take a while to pass. But it doesn’t look that serious. I’m not sure if it’s a good thing that we may lift Lohse or a bad thing.

Looked like something with the leg
Was doing the dishes when it happened. When I was done he was walking off the field.
FSN Houston had a chick interviewing some former player during it and she would not allow it to be interupted. The guy being interviewed seemed to know it was a big deal, because he kept trying to steer her back to what was going on on the field, but oh no, she was not to be detered. She kept plowing ahead.
So long story short…not sure, but he was limping pretty badly coming off the field.

everything in Florida is sand based. We dont have real dirt. Its either clay or sand. It would be nice if it drained post haste, so neither teams players slip and get hurt because of a crappy field.

Dunn deal.....
Micah Owings in the player to be named later.
Hmm…..makes the deal a little different then all the speculation. Not sure how much I like it now for Zona.

Zona still gets two picks in the offseason tho...
... and they’ve got some SP depth. i still like it for them. they’re going for it this year, but also leaving themselves open for the next few years.
Reds rotation next year:
Arroyo
Volquez
Harang
Owings
Cueto
with Bailey waiting in the wings. that could be very good.

how can owings be a ptbnl?
he played in the same league this year as dunn.

yes, but
the rules say he can’t play in the same league. PTBNL have to either come from the other league (AL) or the minors.

He was optioned to Tuscon

well, that explains it i guess
missed that he went down (though I thought the rule was “in the same league in the same year”, but it’s apparently just “after the trade occurs”)

sketchy
very sketchy.
I guess WJ could have a gentleman’s agreement to trade owings for $1 on 1 Nov, or something. But he can’t be a ptbnl, and if dunn was traded in July the astros, brewers and nats have a legitimate concern.
Granted, the reds have only won one game so far in august.

i go with gammons
elbow is an issue and specifically why he no longer drives the ball the other way. full extension is the problem with an elbow injury.
If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, perhaps you haven't grasped the situation!

i've been saying this all season long
he needs to get the TJ this offseason & be done with it. if he wont, the Cards should force him too

I don't buy that explanation
For his career, he goes opposite field 15.4% of the time, this season 10.7%, not a significant difference given the sample size of one season. Career slugging percentage going to opposite field is .567, this year .521
In other words, if he homers to opposite field in his next AB, he’d be slugging over his career average to right.

do you really think he shouldn't get TJ?
i can’t remember the last time i saw him hit a double or HR to right. in fact, according to those numbers, he only has one HR to right & only 5 doubles to right all season. that’s not the Albert Pujols we’ve all come to know & love.

It is the Albert we know and love
or at least, one just a HR to right shy. I can see him doing it in Cincy, easy.
I’d rather he get the surgery at the start of an offseason than during a season, but it’s not my elbow.

By the way (I've been gone for awhile, just catching up on all the comments in this thread)
Talking about Olympians we each know, one of our female swimmers, Margaret Hoelzer, rode the carpool to elementary school with me for a few years. She won bronze the other night, but her main event, 200m backstroke, is coming up soon. She should win gold :D

I wouldn't really call her a friend though
She was in a different friend group than I was in high school. I doubt she’d even recognize me today.

I have the athletic build of a golfer
And that’s why I played that in high school, although I probably could have been a bench/JV baseball player. I was never on swim team, and I was probably too conscious (is that the right word? brain fart) of my appearance to wear a speedo.

I loved playing hockey
I played it for two years, and well before anyone was a good enough skater to hurt you with a check

I started going down to the gym to play pickup hoops earlier this summer
And I got winded just running up and down the court a few times. My body just isn’t the same it was 5 or 10 years ago
