they're calling carp's injury a triceps strain. his health status far more consequential than the (all but certain) outcome of the game. . . . . at least it ain't the elbow.

I sincerely enjoy his insights

sure he says dumb things now and then….but notice how jon miller (who I also love) makes errors and joe always corrects him – he’s sharp, I tell you

Joe's absolutely terrible when it comes to numbers

I think that’s a given. But he’s pretty insightful when it comes to the mechanics of the game and whatnot. At least I think so.

Triceps Strain

Mild strain-2 to 10 days.
Moderate strain-10 days to 6 weeks.
Severe strain—6 to 10 weeks. If this is a repeat injury, complications listed above are more likely to occur.

hardly

there hasn’t been a single phrase of sexual innuendo utterred nor any sign it is going to lead to that. just simple discussion on the rules and regulations of dating at a younger age.

how fitting

in a game that featured the cub faithful booing chris carpenter that they would interview ryan dempster about how great the cub fanbase is.

Notice the Cub's runners don't run to first on the strikeout in the dirt?

Seen it a couple times now.

Pinella seems to be losing this team a little. I know they are still winning, but against the Angels, they are not going to get away with that.

It's really a shame

Does Ludwick's error belong in this list?

I’m genuinely not sure, as I’m following on the radio and Gameday, but it seems to have been a major factor in the first run of the game.

by Don Zero on Aug 10, 2008 10:41 PM EDT up reply actions

Yes, It was a play that most little leaguers make most of the time

dont get me wrong, I love Luddy, but it was a horrible play for a big leaguer

by buzzburton33 on Aug 10, 2008 10:47 PM EDT up reply actions

I totally expected the dempster interview to go like this:

gammons: so who do you think is the best team in the AL East?
Dempster: um…y…wha..
gammons: Okay, so who would you rather face, Jason bay or David Ortiz
Dempster: errrr
gammons: So how do you compare yourself to pitchers such as…oh I don’t know…Dice-k, Josh Becket and Tim Wakefield?
at this point dempster interviews himself with his Harry Carey impersonation

"How depressing is it being you? Would you equate it to being a lifelong Cubs fan?"

by rocKStark5 on Aug 10, 2008 10:36 PM EDT reply actions

Skip Carey

before he died, said that Dempster’s impression of his father was one of the worst he had ever heard.

by Hardcore Legend on Aug 10, 2008 10:38 PM EDT up reply actions

Gammons would know

that Wakefield is on the DL…he’d have switched it to Jon Lester…or better yet, whichever AAA starter is coming into the rotation for Wakefield.
