Game 92 Open Thread- 9th July, 2008

Mulder_mark_medium Happ_ja_medium

Mulder                    J.A. Happ

0-0, 13.50                0-0, 3.86

I don't really have any kind of detailed analysis to offer all of you tonight. I can tell you that Happ has walked more batters (4), than he has struck out (3). He's only thrown 4.2 innings, though, so it's tough to really draw many conclusions from that.

As for Mulder, I don't know what to say. I guess we'll all just have to hope for the best.

Good luck, Mark. Let's see if you've got anything left.

this looks like a game that could have a lot of runs scored.

it’ll probably turn out to be a 1-0 game though, baseballs screwy like that

Rick Ankiel could throw out Chuck Norris. Easy.

If the Phils...

are ever going to post another 20 spot on us, tonight is the night.

by guayzimi on Jul 9, 2008 6:48 PM EDT reply actions

i doubt it.

i don’t think tlr would leave mulder out to dry like that. if he gives up 6 runs in 3 innings or something, he’ll be out of there.

the phils could put up 10, but not 20.

20 runs...

Makes me think of this Mulder start: http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA200606200.shtml

That was such a painful series…..

"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. I don't really have any justification for it,

but for some reason I’m feeling optimistic about Mulder’s start tonight. Obviously not 10 inning shutout optimistic, but something on the order of five innings, two earned runs optimistic.

I agree with lboros'

post from last week on Mulder. Unless he can get the ball down with that new arm slot he is in real trouble.

Yeah, it's probably just foolish optimism

Like I said, I don’t really have any sound reason for feeling that way – just my gut, which historically hasn’t really been a good predictor of anything except my need to eat. And it’ll just be that much more painful for me if he crashes and burns tonight….

by BTown Birds fan on Jul 9, 2008 6:54 PM EDT up reply actions

hoping for

5 innings, Mulder leaves with the lead, bullpen holds on for him to get the win
probably 7-6

the pessimistic side is worried he wont record an out and get hit hard by about 7 Phils before we go to the pen

by vances law on Jul 9, 2008 7:15 PM EDT up reply actions

This sure does sound like a loss.

But, I guess that’s why they play the games. The Phils offense got shutdown last night. No way they do again. As for Mulder, I wish I could be more optimistic, but I’m saying he doesn’t make it into the 4th, and we’ll be down by 5 or 6.
