but someone called him the Miles of the OF due to his inability to hit for power (which, btw, he has 12 hr’s for memphis this year and a .900+ OPS)

I agree with that

I think he’ll be dealt at the deadline , he’s tearing up Memphis, but we have no room for him, he’s still young enough to have trade value though.

by Raconteur on Jul 8, 2008 9:49 PM EDT up reply actions

oh for sure

he’s a good kid with a productive at bat. his wheels/glove isn’t the best.

so what do you do? put him in a smaller ball park where it’ll inflate his bats and take the liability off his wheels.

CC much like Johan Santana

won’t have it easy in the NL. Harden will as well. The NL isn’t as bad as the media likes to let on.

by KYCards on Jul 8, 2008 9:51 PM EDT up reply actions

Damn this game went quick

Usually when I get home from work the games are only in the 6th or 7th inning. Not tonight. But Wow shutting down this Phillies offense at home is quite a feat!!

by KYCards on Jul 8, 2008 9:48 PM EDT reply actions

See here's the crux that the Brewers are in..

CC would have to go 9 innings to really help the Brewers, because they still rely on a BP at the end of the game and well..

that’s been their true weakness

I use statistics much as a drunken man uses lamp-posts – as support rather than illumination. - Andrew Lang

by AdjustedExpectations on Jul 8, 2008 9:51 PM EDT reply actions

Well

He’s at 91 pitches in the 6th inning, so I doubt he’s going 9 tonight

By the way, are the Brewers now the fattest team in MLB? Fielder and Sabathia on the same team? They probably have to sit on opposite sides of the team plane

it should be tied. Spillbourghs should have scored on a Triple by Yorvit but he either got a massive cramp, broke a rib or tore his oblique rounding second and had to hobble into 3rd base. He would have scored easily.

He was throwing something

81 mph and it broke down and in to RH batters and down and away to LH batters. Not sure exactly what it was (maybe a lazy slider?).

Anyways, he must have been tipping it because as of the 4th inning, he did not get 1 single swing and miss with it.

Interesting tidbit on mid-season acquisitions

a friend forwarded me this afternoon from a Cubs blog.

Only 2 starting pitchers ever acquired mid season have World Series Victories. Some Yankees pitcher in 1977 and – you guessed it – Dreamweaver.

2 hours after he forwarded this to me, we found out the Cubs had gotten Harden. Hah.

by sdrone on Jul 8, 2008 11:40 PM EDT reply actions

Harden at Wrigley

Just wondering if Harden gives up a lot of fly balls? I haven’t seen him alot so I’m not sure. But it will be quite a change piching in the spacious park in Oakland to much more hitter friendly Wrigley. Although the way the Cubs are scoring at home this year it probably won’t even matter.
