Need another zero from Wellemeyer
I think we can get some runs this inning.

What is it about below average leftys like Marshall
that gives the Cards such a fit. His stuff isn’t that good and they are making solid contact, but they can’t seem to get any runs on the board.

And another bloop
Johnson is sooo good. David Eckstien in OF form.

Wellemeyer should elevate the ball more
they are only crushing these for singles.

We could use it

that would bode well
that way they’d only have to get 2 outs the next inning.

I feel like everyone else is watching a different game
That ball was 2 inches from being a HR. How in the world was Mather to blame on that play?
Then Ankiel very nearly throws a guy out at 3rd. I’d say it was a hell of a job to get out of a bases-loaded, no outs situation with only one run.
by effin fisk on Jul 6, 2008 4:34 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
it was good to get out of that
Mather didn’t put himself in position to make a play on that ball. He might not have caught it. But if he took a good route he would have had a much better chance.
by Evilfrog on Jul 6, 2008 4:35 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Mather played like 4 different positions as he came up through the minors
I saw him myself in Springfield. I don’t think he has a ton of experience in Left field. Even so, he just barely missed snagging that ball. It’s one thing if you say that you think she should’ve caught the ball. Its quite another to assume that Duncan would’ve made that play, or somehow missed the play with more grace or something.
I don’t understand the mentality that every one of our players is expected to play like a hall-of-famer 100% of the time.
by effin fisk on Jul 6, 2008 4:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I dont have a problem with players making a mistake
People just kept telling me that Mather is better than Duncan. I haven’t seen it yet. Let’s see how Mathers bat does here. Runner at 3rd. All he needs is a fly ball.

Yikes
What’s going on, Russ? This is new, isn’t it, for him to get hit so hard?

everything up up up.
ESPN Management (CT): Umm…...what does this have to do with the Red Sox and Yankees?
SportsNation Jerry Crasnick: Management, Let’s take a break with the sarcasm, OK?

Just about to write the same thing!
More than a starter? Or a middle infield bat?

I am thinking Middle infielder
I know it is nothing new and wont happen, but how much better would or lineup look with Brian Roberts right now?

Because it's the Cubs...
errr, they’re up 4 runs in the 8th and we can’t hit.

who would win in a race from 2B
Yadi or Ward?
I have a love/hate relationship with the Cardinals' middle relief corps.

unfair scenario
Oquendo never would let him run that far.

Wasn't his fault
Pujols didn’t cover first very quick.
by Hardcore Legend on Jul 6, 2008 5:35 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Springer still...
did not throw to the bag.

Pujols???

Pujos was floating to the bag about 1 foot away and Springer rushed the throw.
Springer wanted to throw the ball hard and I think Albert expected an easy throw leading him to the bag

do you have any idea how often infielders throw the ball before
the 1st baseman is actually in place?
by Tackle Box on Jul 6, 2008 5:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
nevermind
I misunderstood your post. I think we’re in agreement.
by Tackle Box on Jul 6, 2008 5:39 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That's called a poor internal clock.......No need to rush that throw
by ICbirdfan on Jul 6, 2008 5:37 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
that was going to be a close play at 1st
by UNCDubya on Jul 6, 2008 5:38 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think that play at first was Mather's fault
he just stood out in LF and watched
by the Tewk on Jul 6, 2008 5:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Exactly
if Duncan had been in LF, that wouldn’t have happened.
by Hardcore Legend on Jul 6, 2008 5:40 PM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
TLR's fault because
he met Dave Duncan back in the 1970s.

Well, this is gonna suck
When we score 4 or 5 runs and get back even…minus that error.
by stlfan on Jul 6, 2008 5:38 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
ok, my cap is officially going inside out
Rally Time

Why does it seem like we are killing the ball
and it goes no where?
by Hardcore Legend on Jul 6, 2008 5:43 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Ank, Glaus, Franklin
I think we’ve got enough.
