Not a good start toward taht goal

What is it about below average leftys like Marshall

that gives the Cards such a fit. His stuff isn’t that good and they are making solid contact, but they can’t seem to get any runs on the board.

by TheBirds on Jul 6, 2008 4:29 PM EDT   0 recs

FWIW

Marshall 58 thru 4

by Tackle Box on Jul 6, 2008 4:29 PM EDT   0 recs

And another bloop

Johnson is sooo good. David Eckstien in OF form.

by TheBirds on Jul 6, 2008 4:30 PM EDT   0 recs

OUCH

poor fielding there.

by TheBirds on Jul 6, 2008 4:31 PM EDT   0 recs

Shannon is pissed

about the All-Star Team, isn’t he? Still going on about it

by thisgirllovesbaseball on Jul 6, 2008 4:31 PM EDT   0 recs

We could use it

but since Ramirez hits 1.4748754 at Busch Stadium, not likely.

by Hardcore Legend on Jul 6, 2008 4:32 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Dangit

I wish I woulda thought about that first…i only wanted the triple play

by stlfan on Jul 6, 2008 4:33 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

that would bode well

that way they’d only have to get 2 outs the next inning.

by Tackle Box on Jul 6, 2008 4:33 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Mather

I thought he was suppose to better than Chris Ducan defense wise?

by Evilfrog on Jul 6, 2008 4:33 PM EDT   0 recs

LOL

I cringe at the thought of Duncan fielding that.

by TheBirds on Jul 6, 2008 4:34 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah it would have

there would have been a giant hole in the wall.

by TheBirds on Jul 6, 2008 4:34 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Sorry

I’m just looking out for the safety of the fans in the stands.

by TheBirds on Jul 6, 2008 4:36 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I feel like everyone else is watching a different game

That ball was 2 inches from being a HR. How in the world was Mather to blame on that play?

Then Ankiel very nearly throws a guy out at 3rd. I’d say it was a hell of a job to get out of a bases-loaded, no outs situation with only one run.

by effin fisk on Jul 6, 2008 4:34 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

it was good to get out of that

Mather didn’t put himself in position to make a play on that ball. He might not have caught it. But if he took a good route he would have had a much better chance.

by Evilfrog on Jul 6, 2008 4:35 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Mather played like 4 different positions as he came up through the minors

I saw him myself in Springfield. I don’t think he has a ton of experience in Left field. Even so, he just barely missed snagging that ball. It’s one thing if you say that you think she should’ve caught the ball. Its quite another to assume that Duncan would’ve made that play, or somehow missed the play with more grace or something.

I don’t understand the mentality that every one of our players is expected to play like a hall-of-famer 100% of the time.

by effin fisk on Jul 6, 2008 4:38 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I dont have a problem with players making a mistake

People just kept telling me that Mather is better than Duncan. I haven’t seen it yet. Let’s see how Mathers bat does here. Runner at 3rd. All he needs is a fly ball.

by Evilfrog on Jul 6, 2008 4:42 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Boy, the Pirates sure do us

no favors.

The beat us, get pounded by the Cubs and Brewers.

by Hardcore Legend on Jul 6, 2008 4:33 PM EDT   0 recs

Yeah

This is a frustrating game. Wellemeyer really seems to be pitching better than the score.

by Valatan on Jul 6, 2008 4:35 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

problem is

only the cubs are scoring. he’s sorta doing his job against a very powerful offense. Problem is our offense hasn’t arrived at the ballpark just yet.

by Tackle Box on Jul 6, 2008 4:36 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Yeah

Marshall’s not Zambrano. It’s time to put some damn bats on the ball

Nice DP

but Welley is simply way too hittable right now. Put the guy on the 15 day DL and let him rest his arm/elbow.

boo cubs, hooray beer

by Raconteur on Jul 6, 2008 4:34 PM EDT   0 recs

he's pitched fine

they are getting only singles, and many on the ground. Plus he’s throwing strikes. I think he’s just been unlucky and somewhat rusty. Pitched better than most of our other starters.

by enoscountry on Jul 6, 2008 4:37 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

on the plus side

only took 8 pitches for all that

by vances law on Jul 6, 2008 4:35 PM EDT   0 recs

Yeah...

...8 pitches to get a run across…

by vexedtechie on Jul 6, 2008 4:36 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

doesn't matter.

he’s done. and only 76 pitches…

by Tackle Box on Jul 6, 2008 4:37 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

nice DP there...

now SCORE SOME RUNS. grr.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Cardinals' middle relief corps.

by madding on Jul 6, 2008 4:36 PM EDT   0 recs

wait, what?

Boston will be on National TV next week?

by stlfan on Jul 6, 2008 4:36 PM EDT   0 recs

I haven't seen them since...

Each of the last 7 F-ing games…

by stlfan on Jul 6, 2008 4:37 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

of course

that’s the only team that matters, or has espn not told you that yet?

by barry whiteteeth on Jul 6, 2008 4:37 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

I think it is cute

that the Red Sox are letting the Rays have first for alittle while.

by Hardcore Legend on Jul 6, 2008 4:38 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Oh yeah...

well, I almost expect it against the Rays…you definitely know they’ll be on all 4 games v. the Yanks…but they are subjecting the world to the Orioles…c’mon. Isn’t there a Colorado/KC game on or something?

by stlfan on Jul 6, 2008 4:38 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

double switch?

Kennedy to SS, take out iz2?

by vexedtechie on Jul 6, 2008 4:39 PM EDT   0 recs

yeah

he needs to just stop swtich hitting, I think

They say that it's never too late, but you don't get any younger...

by Valatan on Jul 6, 2008 4:41 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

it would be a bad move to put the pitcher in iz2's spot

kinda defeats the purpose of the double switch.
