Best quote ever

http://areyouwatchingthis.com/mlb/games/44879
Cardinals starter Brad Thompson (4-2) worked 4 1/3 innings, allowing eight runs on eight hits, walking four with no strikeouts.

“I can’t remember the last time I’ve been this frustrated,” Thompson said. “I’m almost to the point I want to find a puppy and kick it pretty much. You’ve just got to learn from it. You’ve got to do something to get your mind off of it.”

by Evilfrog on Jul 30, 2008 8:22 PM EDT up reply actions

I do, somewhat

This is his 3rd rehab start. He went 60 in his first, 70+ in his second. He should have probably gone 70+ in this one as well. He could bunt Mather over just as well as Looper can.

I’m not talking make the guy throw 85 pitches, but send him out there, and after he tops 80…go get him.

by Hardcore Legend on Jul 30, 2008 8:24 PM EDT up reply actions

Eh

I think it’s fine…finished on a high note with a good inning.

Realistically, he probably only had two batters left anyway, maybe three unless he had a very good inning full of first-pitch flailing.

by whopperman on Jul 30, 2008 8:27 PM EDT up reply actions

I agree

you do have to try to stretch him out slowly but surely. He was coming off a great inning. To me this is a bit of a step back.

by TheBirds on Jul 30, 2008 8:27 PM EDT up reply actions

But it was againt 2 guys hitting sub .101. he easily could have only went .1 or .2 more innings before hitting 80 pitches.
