Yeah

I think that’s just Mo talking. But if he thinks he can blow off the Fuentes/Sherrill/Rhodes/Ohman shopping and stick Wainwright in there, he’s more naive than I thought.

I think it's more than mechanical

It begins with his foot and ends with his head.

right

Q: “Mo, what was the flaw that you found.”

A: “He had a ball in his hand and he was on a mound. We need to remove that ball and take him off the mound.”

Who was the last Cardinals RF to hit 30+ HRs in a single season?

That’s the trivia question on the ATL telecast

I’m thinking Brian Jordan, since he works for SportSouth, anyone else with a guess?

The answer turned out to be Jack Clark in 1987

that answer is so wrong

Albert played 39 games in RF in ‘01 and 1 in ‘02

I am pretty sure he hit over 30 both years

* sarcasm might be involved in this comment

by mattyfrommo on Jul 28, 2008 8:29 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Here's what I found after a quick look...

Player – Total (Games in RF) – Year
Pujols – 37 (39) – 2001
Pujols – 34 (1) – 2002
Clark – 35 (1) – 1987
Musial – a bunch of times

And, no, Brian Jordan never hit 30+ in a season for any team (career high = 25 in ‘98 and ‘01).

There could be a couple more, but either way, giving Clark as the answer is lame.

by WastedTalent on Jul 28, 2008 9:04 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

lame, indeed. I’m sticking with ‘49 Musial.

by liam on Jul 28, 2008 9:06 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

by Evilfrog on Jul 28, 2008 8:30 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

He's at 55 pitches

So, he’d have to be more efficient in the next five innings than the first four, which is possible. If he’s at 110 through 8 IP, I believe TLR will pull him.

tear off the P-D reporters’ fingers so they quit penning articles mentioning the possibility.

i think mozailak was posing by mentioning wainwright as closer. i think that was part of a trade negotiation. it is really a good marketing move as waino has proven his worth in that role.
