Reyes Traded
our long national nightmare is over.
traded to the Indians for AA RP Luis Perdomo, a power arm with a plus-plus fastball, a decent slider, and a work-in-progress changeup. he regularly hits 95-96 apparently. he's 24, which might be a little high for AA, but he's doing well there.
all in all, we traded a pitcher with no value and no future here for a decent power arm. it's not amazingly great, but i think it's pretty good for us. add Perdomo to Perez and Motte. in a few years, we might have a lights-out 7-8-9 combo.
doesn't do anything for this year, tho.

WHAT?!
I thought we were supposed to get Matt Holliday and Dan Uggla straight up?

I can't believe they actually traded him
I feel like we could have gotten a little more for him, but maybe not. Best of luck moving forward, Anthony.

Agreed
Perdomo looks pretty good, but I feel like we could’ve done a tad bit better (either younger or MLB ready). Regardless, I’m happy that we traded him for both his sake and ours. Good luck to him!

and I actually like Cleveland
so I won’t feel bad following Anthony there and hoping he does well.

Yeah
all I would have liked as a throw in wa for the rule 5 restrictions on Barton to be lifted.

Perdomo..
Actually looks like an exciting pitcher.
Granted he’s a little bit older, but between Hi-A and AA this year, he has 60 K in 54 IP, a 1.66 ERA, .168 AVG against and only 1 HR given up.
Sweet!

it's a shame...
...we never were able to tap into reyes’ potential. what could have been…. i hope he rips it up in the AL. and here’s hoping perdomo’s #’s translates into success in stl in a year or 2.
Why don't we get glausy eyed and put back some franklin's....

ooo
according to the website, we’re also getting cash. I wonder if it’s anything significant.

Win-Win
It looks like we got some real value here, and we did right by poor Mr. Reyes and shipped him to a well-run organization in the other league. I think (read: really really hope) he will turn into something good, but it wasn’t going to happen with us. If anything, we/I can feel less guilty about the whole saga. Thanks for game one Ant’ny, and good luck in Cleveland.

Keep wondering what the haul would have been if team had traded Reyes after the WS?
Funny fans (me included) moaned when Weaver did not re-up. Look at the fates of the WS staff now. Banished, DL and scattered . . .

first off, thank heaven
This is just one of those things (like Rolen) where I dont care which way it went im just glad its settled.
That said couldnt we have gotten at least something better for Reyes?
I dunno, maybe this guy is a prospect, but I was under the impression he was just a guy to play on the farm teams.
All the best to Anthony, I hope he somedays lives up to the hype.

Perdomo appears to have some K quality stuff...
Never was more bandwidth given to a prospect pitcher than A Reyes. Jillsinmo can tune in some Indians games in the future and follow his post-trade progression, I probably will. I hope he tears it up, the Tribe are good midwest AL neighbors.

So far so good
Perdomo pitched a scoreless inning for Springfield today, no hits or walks, one strikeout.

Well, good luck Anthony
thanks for giving us that one-hitter against the White Sox that proved to me just how baseball can be a bitch ;)
Hope this Perdomo guy flourishes in St. Louis
Yadi swings and hits a high fly ball... Endy Chavez goes back, to the track, to the wall... ITS A GUNNER!! Yadi gives St. Louis the lead in the bottom of the eighth!

Yeah, welll. The best part of that one was
the way he responded to the one hit-not at all. Completed the game like nothing ever happened. He was sent back to Memphis the next day.
I’m not really an Indians fan-but I’ll check in to see if he turns it around. I did find some comments from Shapiro, and they have apparently been scouting him for a long time, they still think his “stuff” is fine, and they want him to have a few starts in AAA and then bring him up for what hopefully will be a head start for a rotation spot next year. Cleveland has had some success turning around their own struggling starting pitchers, and it will be interesting to see if they can turn around someone else’s. So yeah, I’ll watch.
They still treated “no one” Reyes like crap-and I hope they never let that happen again to a player.
It’s okay to trade a player that isn’t going to work out for you-and do it before they get tarnished….....

should have gotten more but...
i’m glad the deal is done. Gets him a new start and at least we got something more than some peanuts in return.
Side note: Does this make the cards’ uber hyped farm products 0 for 2? (well at least in the last decade)

Reyes Update
Reyes to pitch tonight for AAA Buffalo

In a bizarre twist, A.Rey bumped Jeff Weaver to get the start for Buffalo.

They seem to be wasting no time in their quest to evaluate him.
It’s smart in a way…...they can see exactly where he is in game conditions, and go from there.
