This one appears to be just about over

I’d once again like to thank TLR and staff for giving Boggs this start, despite the fact that these same Mets destroyed him his last time out. Bravo.

I figured we needed about 7 to win this one

might as well go ahead and make it 8. The offense just has to explode sometime, might as well be in the next inning

When Dan and Al say

* sarcasm might be involved in this comment

by mattyfrommo on Jul 25, 2008 9:13 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

That just adds to his value...

If Ludwick really is this good, he’s largely wasted here, because he won’t even be a starter. He’ll likely still platoon with Skippy and Duncan next year, even if he hits.

If he’s not really this good, move him now while he has value.

by DiscoJer on Jul 25, 2008 9:20 PM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

Ludwick’s valuable and under team control—a good part of next year’s success; Looper’s value can’t be very high in his walk year the way he’s been pitching lately.

I dont buy it either

we have had a sweep recently and havent fared too bad against the opponents, save MIL, recently. We just seem to be on the schnide lately. Also, when your BP has to go 3.5 innings/night, this kinda thing will happen where your pitching staff seems tired all the time. Other than getting another arm or hitting MIF to replace one or two we have, I dont know what to do.

As others have said, this is what happens...

when you have a team full of overachievers who give 110% every night. When they crash, they crash hard. Morale drops, they no longer believe in themselves and their ability to win every night and things go down hill from there. It also doesn’t help that a ton of their losses are of the heartbreaking fashion thanks to the god awful bullpen.

He's exhibited nothing that

shows that. It’s a built in excuse we give him, and maybe it is but we shouldn’t just default to “he must be hurt” everytime he does poorly.

Partially, but I think alot of it's mental also

Alberts a gamer. Watching his bullpen blow that many games, has taken it’s toll on him.

I don't like calling Beer - Franklins

Beer is a wonderful thing , Ryan Franklin isn’t.

Putting away a rather skunky Rolling Rock. (Going to the bench after burning all my starters last night.)

Trying to decide where to kick it tonight over this last inning.

Just got back

from two hours of margaritas and gorditas with the wife and my folks at peublo solis. Not the way I had hoped the game would have unwound upon return.

Time for some wine.

My fellow Americans. As a young boy, I dreamed of being a baseball, but tonight I say, we must move forward, not backward, upward not forward, and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom.

Why the hell didn't Thompson get the start today over Boggs?

Thompson isn’t great, but he’s a much better option than Boggs at this point.

+1

a flip flop seemed the better option, unless boggs was being shown (risky and losing gamble if so)

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, perhaps you haven't grasped the situation!

yea, but

how he does it with that swing is beyond me

Then again

LHP vs Skip, so…go after him first. Walk Ludwick, go after Pujols.

So what you're saying is

that we’ve got the fake Pujols tonight?

they will play us soon. Just kidding…..I think.
