Game 103 Open Thread

Cardinals vs. Brewers

Looper vs. Sabathia

The next two games are of grave importance to the Cardinals. Even though the last couple of losses were gutwrenching, with a little luck and some solid play, we can come back and be right back where we were when this series started; in the Wild Card lead by a game. As it stands right now, we're behind the Brewers by a game in the Wild Card and the Cubs by two games for the NL Central. We need to win at least one of the next two games.

Let's Go Cardinals!!

maybe I’m the only one but I still think we should bean Bill Hall. Jimmy the Cat aparantly talked to some of the Cards and those that claimed to notice it said that “he deserved it” meaning to watch his homer’s go. They also said if one of the Cards did it, then the fans wouldn’t care.

Maybe I think too highly of the “best fans in baseball” but personally I think that is a cop-out and that the Birds need to grow a little bit of backbone. He deserved it? really? He absolutely was showing up the team.

i have always thought of beaning

as chin music kind of stuff. The old timey term for one’s head is a bean, hence “beanball”

I'm looking forward to the 4th already

Because Loop, Skip, and Ryan are getting set down in order next inning. At least then the 4th will be Ludwick, Pujols, Glaus

* sarcasm might be involved in this comment

by mattyfrommo on Jul 23, 2008 9:01 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

ok maybe thug is a bad word for it

but it seems their whole team is unnecessarily cocky and the more I watch them the less I like them. Did Prince really think Looper was sending a message by hitting him with 2 men on? What was with the glare? Bill Hall is OPSing barely .750 this year and glaring into our dugout like we’re foolish for even pitching to him.

I don’t care what team you play for, I don’t like showing up the other team. Aaron Miles didn’t show up the Padres this weekend when they walked 2 guys just to get to him.

by TICY on Jul 23, 2008 9:06 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Miles definitely walked out of the batters’ box on the GS after 2 IBBs. I probably would have too but still….

ok

he hit a walk off grand slam. miles has hit about 15 homers his whole career, i think he kinda has the right to admire a little bit. you would’ve done the same thing. we shouldn’t think it’s a bad thing.

by stlcardinalsfang on Jul 23, 2008 9:09 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

well

especially after there were not one but TWO IBBs to get to him. Miles had every right to feel slighted for that…..

ok you're right

I just rewatched it on mlb.com and he did look a fair amount (i was at the game, didnt really notice it lol). Probably just my bias but it seemed less “showing up” than Hall.
