...

I’m stuck at work, any news on a rain delay?

I’m looking at the webcams and it looks dreary…
and I ponder weak and weary….
over quaint and curious volume of forgotten VEB Lore.
Pedro will be good, nevermore.

no, what i said was

that certain members of the community were uncomfortable with the direction the erin andrews worship was going - i thought their complaint was legitimate, and i asked other members of the community to be respectful and stop posting the pictures.

you have a problem w/ my decision, and you’re entitled to your opinion. you had your say about it last night. but just let it go now, ok? everyone else has made peace with my decision, whether they like it or not, and moved on. ya’ll can look at erin andrews picture all you want elsewhere on the internet - just not here.

Main thread today-pitching woes

Just a thought. Why can’t we start stretching out Kyle McClellan? I wouldn’t mind seeing his “stuff” in the second half of the season.

i was all for that

earlier in the season. but at this point, we need him more in the bullpen i think. let him stretch out this winter and make a run at the rotation next spring.

by adiueordie on Jul 2, 2008 7:53 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I responded

but I’ll tell you here what I said there.

McClellan has been our best reliever (save Russ Springer) and Jason Motte goes really, really wild at times.

by Tackle Box on Jul 2, 2008 7:53 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I know he would be greatlty missed in the pen

but it would seem easier to replace him there than find a good starter

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

by showmejoe on Jul 2, 2008 7:54 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

It would take him the better part of the month to get stretched out

That’s a better part of a month he’s not helping the team at all. No thanks.

by Tackle Box on Jul 2, 2008 7:58 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

Let’s not take a Joba cue from the Yankees and try this half way through the season. K-Mac allows Russ to not be overused, which allows us to have a 1-2 punch should we need it in mid relief. We’re losing games with the pen, let’s not make it weaker, thanks:)

he was certainly a better player than Ryan Howard that year. Albert should have won it but beltran should have been a close #2.

yeah

he’s outperforming his career averages right now and people are asking “what happened to him”... I guess the lower overall offense this year is making a difference, too. An .878 OPS in NY last year and a .839 OPS this year are worth a 126 and 124 OPS+, respectively…

Always fun to end a threat with the pitcher who just gave up 4 :)

tony should come out and gripe about the 12 second rule to be a pain

that is the rule, right? 12 seconds between pitches?

(not saying it wasn’t hittable for Pu, opposite actually), but from the Pitcher and the Batter it was odd compared to both norms

all star voting ends tonight

if you haven’t voted 25 times already, go hit that up.
i went with molina, pujols, utley, ramirez, jones, ankiel, ludwick, braun. national league needs to win this thing one time.

by adiueordie on Jul 2, 2008 9:01 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

I wasn't even going to vote

but I felt that Molina, Pujols and Ludwick were getting slighted…so I gave it a whirl.

same, added Glaus. not because I think he’s the best 3rd baseman in the league, but I wanted to use a vote and recognize how good he’s been for us.

I will quietly abstain from emotion

when Edmonds comes to town. I want to cheer, but if he beats us, I’ll hold my tongue.

pure silence from me.

I’d cheer if he was a Padre, I’d boo for any other Cub. Silence is the call.

if the whole stadium was just dead silent when he was batting.

highly agree

had a post on that when he was signed. crickets chirping when he’s up would be wild.

he’s expecting boos, would be happy with cheers. he thrives on both. I dont think he would know what to do if it was silent

I just heard the first rumbles

For the record

Keith Hernandez, color announcer for Mets (whose very good in my opinion), said of Miles, “I like this guy. He is scrappy”. Also, the Mets have not overcome a lead greater than two runs all season (to win).

Sometimes I really get tired of the excessive shading that goes on

Ryan was almost playing third on that hit. I am almost convinced that the excessive shading is hurting rather than helping this team.

by Egyptian on Jul 2, 2008 9:16 PM EDT reply reply actions actions   0 recs

what about

glaus turning the double play the other night? that was pretty cool…

by adiueordie on Jul 2, 2008 9:17 PM EDT to parent up reply reply actions actions   0 recs

But does the shading work more frequently than it doesn't?

I agree that it works sometimes, but frequently hits like that one to the standard shortstop position get through.

And it seems even worse with the outfielders, especially the corner outfielders.
