Pitt 12, StL 11

that is just about the saddest loss i can remember in my 40 years of watching the cardinals.

i appreciate that most people are venting their frustrations appropriately.

at least the all star break might deaden the effect of this loss

well

pretty darn watchable, which quite suprised me considering…well…it is “Sky High”

Well...

if was the Japanese movie of the same name, about a serial killer who rips out the hearts of people, then it’s just like watching the game.

I just got a memo

From Bud Selig (I’m an insider). He said this will count for two losses in the standings.

Trade Lohse and Ludwick

and blow this shit up. No point in trying to compete this year.

this team is not good enough to make the post season

so why not get what you can for the valuable/tradeable commodities?

It’s being realistic and thinking for the long term best interest of the team.

didn’t look good enough to make the post-season a whole lot more often than this one.

you always seem to think "realistically"

this team can make the postseason, they’ll just get swept out of the first round.

same

it’s gonna take a stretch of poor play…the only problem is that will probably mean some of our players will start to play poorly (lohse, ludwick) and it may diminish their value a bit.

better idea

trade duncan and reyes for some quality relievers. we’d have 60 wins right now if we had a dominant closer.

by stlcardinalsfang on Jul 12, 2008 10:57 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

bahahahaha

love reyes and like duncan, but they will not bring a “dominant closer”

by lopey986 on Jul 12, 2008 10:57 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It's not a closer problem

It’s an entire bullpen problem. Springer is the lone bright spot out there right now.

Tomorrow's game

We should use a Piniero/Thompson tandem. Just take the bullpen out of the equation.

they’ve got three days off. looper could start the friday back and wellemeyer can start thursday.

I’m serious. The entire bullpen (other than Springer) sucks right now. It’s the anti-2007.

smack to the face

punch to the gut. kick in the groin…You name it. If this doesn’t wake up TLR, Dunc, MO, et al, that serious pitching help is needed now, this team won’t win 80 games. For all the tenacity this club shows at times, there’s only so much the human spirit can handle.

by 10worldchamps on Jul 12, 2008 10:54 PM EDT   0 recs

by craig3410 on Jul 12, 2008 11:43 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

If you didn't notice

Harden threw one of his 5 inning, 95 pitch gems today and the cub bullpen blew a 7 run lead courtesy of Mr. Howry and Mr. Marmol.

by Pitchers Hit Eighth on Jul 13, 2008 5:10 AM EDT to parent up   0 recs

Well I bet TLR doesnt try to just get his pitchers 'work' anymore

no matter how big a lead is, just play things like u would any other day with the BP, I have not been a TLR advocate for a long time, but this takes the cake & Im tired of his bullshit when probably 2/3 of the people on this board could manage better than he does…start the bashing on me, but TLR sucks ass IMO, even though the players need to execute better as well.

by buzzburton33 on Jul 12, 2008 10:55 PM EDT   0 recs

There's plenty of blame to be spread around

between the bullpen but I’m still frustrated/pissed that Miles didn’t turn the double play in the 9th.

by azruavatar on Jul 12, 2008 10:55 PM EDT   0 recs

there's no excuse for him not turning that DP

i know you dont get an error for not turning it, but if ever a player was going to get a error for not turning one, it’d be Mini Me right there. Bay fell down & every thing. all he had to do was get it to Albert & the game is over

I'm going to go try to find a puppy and kick it. - Brad Thompson AND THAT'S A WINNER!

Is Chris Perez really the closer of the future?

He’s been unimpressive, to say the least

boo cubs, hooray beer

by Raconteur on Jul 12, 2008 10:57 PM EDT   0 recs

i think he's a bit out of his league

he has only one pitch he can throw with complete confidence and he sometimes can’t get control of thta one pitch. he needs to go back to memphis to work on a second pitch and his mechanics.

by stlcardinalsfang on Jul 12, 2008 11:00 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

If I remember correctly, the plan was for Perez to stay in Memphis most of this season. He was rushed up when Izzy went nuts on that TV in Milwaukee after blowing a save. Perez can still be a damn good closer… in 2009 or 2010

by 10worldchamps on Jul 12, 2008 11:03 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

grumble grumble grumble

win tomorrow, it’s a 3-3 road trip in PA, and the team can get some much-needed rest over the break with a homestand coming up afterwards with games against the brewers. the sky is not falling. yeah, we need a little pitching help, but this was one game, and tony won’t let his guys think like 99% of the folks on this forum right now.

go cards, o's, and phillies.

...boiler up.

by moboiler on Jul 12, 2008 10:58 PM EDT   0 recs

not really

a win tomorrow won’t change the fact that they blew a 6 run lead tonight and blew 2 saves in the process

boo cubs, hooray beer

by Raconteur on Jul 12, 2008 11:01 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

teams blow 6 run leads more than you think

it’s a 162 game season. there’s nothing wrong with tonight’s game that winning 9 in a row wouldn’t fix.

go cards, o's, and phillies.

by moboiler on Jul 12, 2008 11:03 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs
