Pitt 12, StL 11

that is just about the saddest loss i can remember in my 40 years of watching the cardinals.

i appreciate that most people are venting their frustrations appropriately.

punch to the gut. kick in the groin…You name it. If this doesn’t wake up TLR, Dunc, MO, et al, that serious pitching help is needed now, this team won’t win 80 games. For all the tenacity this club shows at times, there’s only so much the human spirit can handle.

no matter how big a lead is, just play things like u would any other day with the BP, I have not been a TLR advocate for a long time, but this takes the cake & Im tired of his bullshit when probably 2/3 of the people on this board could manage better than he does…start the bashing on me, but TLR sucks ass IMO, even though the players need to execute better as well.

grumble grumble grumble

win tomorrow, it’s a 3-3 road trip in PA, and the team can get some much-needed rest over the break with a homestand coming up afterwards with games against the brewers. the sky is not falling. yeah, we need a little pitching help, but this was one game, and tony won’t let his guys think like 99% of the folks on this forum right now.

I agree, we should do the following:

Offer Lohse 3/33, if he takes it , sweet, we have a good pitcher locked up reasonable for the next 3 years.
If he doesn’t, trade him. He isn’t guaranteed to be a Type A Free Agent, thus we will lose him and get absolutely NOTHING (I don’t consider a Type B free agent anything worthwhile) in return.

Shop Ludwick around and see if a team like the Rays will bite and overpay a bit for him.

But without good starting pitching

you don’t even get into position to have blown saves. Bullpen arms can be restocked for cheap, number 1 and 2 type pitchers don’t fall out of trees. Adam is more than fine where he is.

I don't like trading for bullpen arms

as tonight proves, they are capable of stabbing you through the heart. We don’t need new personnel, we need our current personnel in the correct roles.

K-mac would be fine in the closer role, IMO, Izzy should be no where near a high leverage situation ever, ever ever again, and the hot hand between Franklin and Perez could be the eigth inning guy.

I'm not talking about blowing up the bullpen..

KMAC is not high high leverage ready. I see a lot of these guys effective in the 6th, 7th or 8th…but we need a closer.

K mac would do fine as a closer

he has a 41-12 K:BB ratio and a 2.74 ERA. He has the skills and the temperament. He is also among the lead leaders in holds, for whatever thats worth (probably not much.)

he could handle it. tonight he was put in a more difficult spot than the typical save, even 1 run save.

I have the Carpenter growth poster in my classroom

We cut it into four pieces then ran it through the laminator. Then duct taped it together on the back and hung it in the back of the room. The kids are always checking their height and I don’t have to worry about it getting torn up. However, I do feel like I’ve been cut into four pieces and run through the laminator right about now.
