will the cardinals ever face an rhsp again?? they've got another left-hander tomorrow, which will make it 7 lhsps in a row . . . . . the last righty they faced was zambrano. i bet it has been a long time since they went more than a week without facing a right-hander. the only lefty they've beaten so far in this streak is cole hamels; they're 2-3 in the five games overall.

Fresh Jason Bay rumors: the D’Backs and Cardinals are in pursuit. The Mets and Rays have kicked the tires as well. Heyman believes the Pirates want Emilio Bonifacio from the D’Backs, and maybe Colby Rasmus from the Cards. At any rate, the price will be steep with Bay signed for ‘09.

the pirates will ask high
and if it’s not to their liking not deal bay at all. They never seem to make that club any better. I’m with Hardcore and have menitoned it as well before about liking Marte. I have always liked him back to his White Sox days but the question remains would they deal him now that Capps is down. He may or maynot come cheaper than Fuentes

Our offense is pathetic
and Tony does it no favors by starting both Skip and Ludwick, neither of which hit LHP particularly well.

I don't understand his adamant attitude
towards getting a bat that will improve the team, when moves like this seemingly don’t help the offense at all

Unfortunately
Ludwick’s LHP split, even his .315 OBP, are the best of any of the regular OFs. Has anyone in the press even questioned Tony about his refusal to start Mather against all these lefties?

anybody notice Cleveland signed Jeff Weaver to a minor league contract a bit ago?
do you think we didn’t touch him b/c
1) the ownership had a personal problem w/ him?
2) he’s been struggling?
3) he didn’t want to come back here?
I’m wondering if it’s not 1). He struggled before and, besides, struggling vets are Duncan’s stock in trade. I guess Weaver could be upset enough that we didn’t make the offer he wanted, but given that he’s now begging for a minor league contract, the logic of the ownership at the time seems vindicated. He certainly did better here; you’d think he’d want to get back to the place of his success.
And while we may doubt whether he can put it back together again, a minor league contract is pretty small beans.

no argument he's been stinking.
but (far as I know) he’s not injured, which means he’s having problems with his control, with his form, or with his head. Given that Dunc was able to right him before, I wonder if it would have been worth a few hundred thousand dollars to see if he could again.

I usually drink Coors Light (ducks)
But honestly, most light beers taste the same to me (except for that god-awful Miller Lite). Since I heard about the AB/InBev thing, I’ve been drinking Bud Light exclusively. I don’t know what that does, other than to show support for the beer franchise whose name is on the stadium of my favorite team :D

one would think though that all the shuffling
TLR does with pitchers and players it may take its tolls especially on younger guys.
Example… Everyone rails Parisi he was doing pretty well in the pen. They try him as a starter doesnt do well..but hey they should look..then instead of just putting him back in the pen send him back down then back up and now down again. I felt they needed to keep him in the pen but that was just me.

Well, if he does end up being a flash in the pan, he'll at least have lasted longer
He’s already ~30 AB’s past Bo in MLB experience.
Another thought: Ever since I put him in my signature, Adam Kennedy has turned into possibly our best MIF. I’d take him out, except I’m superstitious!
