I thought Wagner was not doing well

from all the crap said about the Mets this year. But his performance stats are at his averages – WHIP .94, K/9 > 10.

The only thing bad is that he has 5 blown saves this year, which is as many as last year, but it seems this is purely a function of the Mets having many more 1-run leads.

Can anybody explain why Gameday has video of every single scoring play, but

will fail to pick up all sorts of interesting bits that don’t result in runs. Like, there will be no footage of the double that SETS UP the run, but footage of the sac fly that drives it in. Or, I kid you not, runs being walked in. Who wants to watch that? The experience of seeing someone jog past home is just not interesting.

switching from the Reds' game to the Cubs'

I noticed again something I have often before. WGN has to program with the loudest crowd noise of any network, national or local. The difference is more apparent when you switch back and forth. And it’s not just in Chicago. Do they think loud crowd noise makes the game more enjoyable?

By the way, Edmonds just grounded out 3-unassisted.

by the Tewk on Jul 1, 2008 11:15 PM EDT reply actions

It is loud

espcially at home or any road game against a poor team and there’s a ton of cub fans. Makes the people back home get excited or something. The worst part is after home game wins when they sing that godforsaken song that nobody actually knows the words to except the chorus.
