June 26 start in Det
the Colonel went 5 IP, 76 pitches, 50 strikes, 4 hits, 3 strikeouts, zero runs. This was after a 13 day layoff. Sorta would think his injury was behind him.

he was pissed off because of a bad start
and a reporter asked him some thing along the line of what he could do to fix his problems, and that was his answer.

game day has
7-9 inch break on his fast balls and 11-12 on his curve. how much does he normally get?
he should have a sinker registered
if not, that suggests gameday either misidentifies it as a curve or fastball, or Thompson is throwing it so poorly that it isn’t acting like a sinker.

Line drive from Molina
Hit him hard. So hard after it bounced off of him Wright was able to thrown him out at first.
he walked off on his own power.
It looked worse then it was. Knocked him to the ground and he looked like he was hurt. But he walked off the field on his own power.

you teased me into looking him up
So has only 71 plate appearances in 58 games played… but he has 11 starts.
Which suggests to me he has been a late inning defensive replacement some… for Burrell, I guess

coming into a losing ball game and taking in 4 innings and allowing only a solo homer to a great player is not shabby.
he settled well after the first two innings.

if c-dunc in fact has his swing back (or if mather comes up in his stead)
I would not mind seeing swaps in late innings to put him at first, barton in the outfield, and keep pujols out of harm’s way. One trip to the DL was enough for me, Berto.
he has that record
that will never be ‘broken’ and probably never tied: two grand slams in the same inning
I thought Wagner was not doing well
from all the crap said about the Mets this year. But his performance stats are at his averages – WHIP .94, K/9 > 10.
The only thing bad is that he has 5 blown saves this year, which is as many as last year, but it seems this is purely a function of the Mets having many more 1-run leads.
he just has closer disease -- when he screws up, it's big and not much if any chance to fix it.
He’s had bad games just like everybody else. Nothing more than that.
Ok..
Luddy can handle heat, Shu can handle heat, but we replace Barton for the Pitcher? Doesn’t make too much sense.

huh?
He could have stayed in the game. If we tied it. I doubt it. He hit for the pitcher because the pitcher lead off the inning. Wouldn’t you rather have Barton on base and Ludwick batting than the other way around?
no I’m saying against Wag I would have rather seen Luddy, Ryan then Shu. 98 mph and Barton doesn’t mix well, Shu can drive the heat.
either way I guess, but I was looking for contact, when Barton has a likely chance to K facing what he had to

gotcha
Too many beers. I thought you wanted Ludwick to bat for the pitcher and barton to bat for skippy.
nah
just looking for contact rather than being dominated. I wanted Barton to run for Dunc earlier in the game when we were 1st and 3rd, so it wasn’t a pick on Barton. Just knowing what he can hit and knowing that he’s coming in cold, he’ll get dominated on 98mph if Wagner can locate

Can anybody explain why Gameday has video of every single scoring play, but
will fail to pick up all sorts of interesting bits that don’t result in runs. Like, there will be no footage of the double that SETS UP the run, but footage of the sac fly that drives it in. Or, I kid you not, runs being walked in. Who wants to watch that? The experience of seeing someone jog past home is just not interesting.
They do include good defensive plays like Ankiel's catch, which is nice
(at least when it’s our defense…)

I have a love/hate relationship with the Cardinals' middle relief corps.
switching from the Reds' game to the Cubs'
I noticed again something I have often before. WGN has to program with the loudest crowd noise of any network, national or local. The difference is more apparent when you switch back and forth. And it’s not just in Chicago. Do they think loud crowd noise makes the game more enjoyable?
By the way, Edmonds just grounded out 3-unassisted.
It is loud
espcially at home or any road game against a poor team and there’s a ton of cub fans. Makes the people back home get excited or something. The worst part is after home game wins when they sing that godforsaken song that nobody actually knows the words to except the chorus.
I haven't noticed it
I live in CHicagoland and watch quite a few games. It’s certainly not louder than ESPN.
A toast
