 7-4, 5.03                  2-2, 4.54

Go Go Gadget Game Thread.  This is the first game thread I've done since the site upgrade.  After 15 minutes and a minimal number of four letter words, I am victorious.

Dear Cardinals,

Please win.  Win convincingly and without the need for heroics.  No late game blown saves and don't stop scoring after the third.  I'm out of Franklins so don't mess around tonight.

Thanks,
azru

Correction

I’m having trouble with Gameday Audio and all MLB sites, but not MLB TV.

by Don Zero on Jun 6, 2008 8:12 PM EDT up reply actions

how did you access mlb.tv?

through mosaic or the site? mine just keeps loading but all I see is a blank window

by Cardsfan_inCHI on Jun 6, 2008 8:17 PM EDT up reply actions

The whole MLB site seems screwed up.

Postpone everything. Stop the games! No more pitches! The World is No Longer Watching!!!

Out of Franklins...

On a Friday?

And with the mlb.tv problems, it sounds like it’ll be a miserable night for a few of you fellas.

by liam on Jun 6, 2008 8:19 PM EDT reply actions

Totally miserable

I am finishing a dissertation and MLB.tv is all I have to live for at the moment.

by Egyptian on Jun 6, 2008 8:20 PM EDT up reply actions

At least you're finishing it

I’ve been working on the same chapter for far, far too long.

by liam on Jun 6, 2008 8:23 PM EDT up reply actions

Dude,

I wrote the whole thing in 7 weeks. I think the best way to do it is to just focus only on that. When I was doing anything else, I struggled to advance it. But, once i cleared everything else off my schedule, it has gone really quick. That is what I recommend. No job, no bars, no women … nothing. When you deprave yourself of everything, it is amazing how hard you will work to get it all back as quick as possible.

by Egyptian on Jun 6, 2008 8:26 PM EDT up reply actions

That's impressive

Sounds like you’re going to rock out tomorrow night.

No job isn’t an option for me, but I’ve definitely cut back on the bars and women. It’s getting there.

by liam on Jun 6, 2008 8:29 PM EDT up reply actions

Yes, the plan for tomorrow

Beer + Shots + DQ Blizzards + A Fine Cigar + Women (as many as … well, one is good).

Oh yeah, and a good shower – I have sort of been skipping on those.

Ok.

Good to know. I plan to watch a lot of these games in my new office at the university and they might not particularly care for me using that kind of bandwidth every night.

I'd imagine a big university's bandwidth would be more than fine

But the generic “basic” cable package may not be enough. I had a bit of a problem at my duplex down at school at times at full 1.2, but the university internet was plenty enough though.

Bad News for te Cardinals?

Well the Rotoworld guy has it half right. If the Colonel has to go on the DL, that is bad news. If we HAVE to see Boggs and Garcia in the rotation, I can live with that. They pitch great, it kinda makes Pin and Loop trade material.

Izturis

threw a DP ball past second, went to the wall, two runs score.

Next batter: groundball to Pujols, fields it cleanly, rifles it to Molina. Molina bobbles the ball for the four seconds the throw beat the runner by, runner safe.

Next batter: groundball past Glaus that would’ve been a double play.

Shoddy, shoddy defense.

runners at 1st and 2nd grounder up the middle to iz2… rushes the throw to first and throws it past albert up the line. both runners score, batter moves to third.

Seriously dude

and I should point out that those globes were pointed out by the woman watching the game with me.

by liam on Jun 6, 2008 10:08 PM EDT up reply actions

thank her

for me. That was the highlight of this game

so where is the screen capture?

I still haven’t been able to find her on the houston telecast

luddite concern

inevitable shame, but luddy has given his number to the opponents and they are using it. interesting to see how long tony plays him regularly. if ti’s just a slump, he may end up sorting it out on the bench instead of in the lineup and the team will really be in the market for a bat.

If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, perhaps you haven't grasped the situation!

Adam Kennedy was

a first found draft pick?

by mattyfrommo on Jun 6, 2008 10:05 PM EDT reply actions

yep

ak = 1. duncan =1, lee = 1; albert = 13. draft isn’t a complete crapshoot, but it’s close, even with first rounders. current first round pick was not on anybody’s the board out of high school, but now a 1; hope he stays on same trajectory and looks like d. lee in 2-3 years

luddy.2

seems to me is getting suckered on the high outside pitch as well, breaking ball, change-up, fb—you name it, he misses it. early in the year he was hitting that ball well to the opposite field. now he can’t seem to make that fine distinction between balls and strikes around the outer edge high or low. can’t keep swinging at non-strikes like he is doing and last very long. he must adjust to that pitch or start watching the game from the dugout.
hope he makes the adjustment, we need him

I think that has something to do with yesterdays loss in the nightcap

hell that was a long day for me, just think how long it must have been for them

We’ve got Kennedy, Miles, Izturis up next!

let's get to geary now

haven’t we hit him well so far this season?

by streamman on Jun 6, 2008 10:14 PM EDT reply actions

Can't decide

Should he be 10 grit or 700?

He’s off the chart either way.

by liam on Jun 6, 2008 10:27 PM EDT up reply actions

i would say about 800 grit

roughly the grit of the label on a bottle of stag. The label in and of it self is pretty smooth yet the beer is a little rough. Use the label just right and you can get it to sand something down. But the quality of the product inside makes it quite difficult to achieve said production.

Nice!

Jim Jackson uses Sony MDR-V6 cans.

That’s how you appreciate Shannon’s voice in style.

Attaboy

Knock off the sliding into first already, though.

The only highlight of the night

Shannon talking about drinking in Alaska and Gameday Audio/KTRS cuts out in the middle of the inning.

And apparently our only run ... keep off the audio gameday.

by enoscountry on Jun 6, 2008 10:22 PM EDT reply actions

That was weird wasn't it

for a minute I thought they were censoring something Shannon was going to talk about!

Joy!

I HATE being shut out.

Pisser

That AB was a battle. Still impressed with what Boggs is doing tonight. Lousy pitch, though.

Nice to see the 2005, 2006 draft class paying dividends already.

We might have some company soon

The Brew crew are winning going for their 7th win in a row. Cincy is whipping the Marlins.

The Comedy Central no more…it’s the toughest division in the NL now.

+1

injuries, schedules, 7 rooks=june challenge for sure

Good News

For QC: Pete Kozma’s 3-3 with a walk and our ace tandem down there has struck out twelve batters through 7.

Addition

really does seem to be a plus pitcher so far.

after that awesome game tonght****

i’m not going to fall asleep in front of the tv listening to Vin Scully describe the Dodgers kicking those wee little bears asses.

or something like that.

either way, until better days & better games, fare thee well Viva.

I'm going to go try to find a puppy and kick it. - Brad Thompson AND THAT'S A WINNER!

i feared this

loop is either on this year or shelled…i figured pitching in the box was not a good recipie with him

I can't believe i gave up a homerun to that punch and judy hitter-major league 2

by punchinjudy on Jun 6, 2008 11:48 PM EDT reply actions

So, let me get this straight

Pineiro is still on the DL
Looper fucking blows
Wellemeyer has elbow problems AGAIN
And Kyle Lohse is getting by on the skin of this teeth?

by Hardcore Legend on Jun 7, 2008 1:02 AM EDT reply actions

this=his*

So, we are realistically looking at a rotation of:

Wainwright
Lohse
Boggs
????
Looper

Are we really going to skip a rotation spot to get Looper up a day earlier?

by Hardcore Legend on Jun 7, 2008 1:08 AM EDT up reply actions

let the scrap heap scouring

commence…

I have a love/hate relationship with the Cardinals' middle relief corps.
