Bill Hall?
There has been a lot of chatter about the possible trade for Roberts, and how that would take a good chunk of our farm system. With Bill Hall asking to get out of the Brewers organization and his very slow start the bounty for him would be much much less. He is a player who posted back to back over 800 OPS seasons, and has a possibility of returning to that. He is also someone who can play 2nd base, but the trade would be contingent on his willingness to do that. I think though this would be a trade that would help the team right away while not hurting the farm system too poorly. Let me know what you guys think.

If the price was cheap enough.....
I might give it a shot. Not sure how good his 2B defense would be though.

I thought about this exact possiblity
a couple of days ago. I’d take a flyer on it, but I’m not sure how eager the Brewers are to trade someone like Hall to a rival. And I wouldn’t worry too much about Hall not wanting to play 2nd base. He’s show that he’ll play anywhere the team needs him to play. Granted, he might get tired of that after a while….

Again...
We’d have to overpay for him because he plays for Milwaukee. He put up back to back seasons of .800 OPS two years ago—but hasn’t been all that good the last season and a half. I get the feeling the maybe pitchers have figured him out….

Reyes for Hall straight up
Would you pull the trigger?
Brewers have had interest in Reyes in the past and the Cards have had interest in Hall. It seems to add up but then again it is an inter-division trade which fell threw prior to the season…

I would. It could work for both teams.
Or they could both continue to not quite put it together. As far as trading within the division, I’m not worried about what the other player is going to do for you, if the player you give me can help my team. GM’s seem to be horrified at the mere suggestion of trading within the division but sometimes, for some players, it has to be considered at least an option. Oh, and you all do know that Mr. Hall has a rather generous long term contract…...that could be a real deal breaker all by itself.
She isn't crazy, she's just not impressed.

Reyes for Hall
I like the idea of this trade very much. If they want Brad Thompson as a throw in, I’m down with that too. We need to upgrade 2B. Just cutting Kennedy is an upgrade but Hall offers the potential of some pop in our middle infield … something we really need. LaDuncan views Reyes as a cancer on the 25 man roster. He’s out of option after this year so he has to be dealt. There is no room at the inn for Brad Thompson either. If we can deal off spare parts and come up with a viable position player … booyah!!!

I Would Be Very Surprised....
...to see the Brew Crew trade a talent like that to an inter-divisional rival. Don’t see it happening, unless some kind of three-way deal is reach with an-udder club.

Hall's contract might be a problem.
Hall earns $4.8MM this year, $6.8MM in ‘09, and $8.4MM in ‘10 (with a $9.25MM option for ‘11).
He would be a big upgrade over Kennedy no doubt..and I like the idea…but I doubt Mo is going to want to take on this backloaded contract if other options are available…and I doubt the Brewers will eat any of his contract either.

I wouldn't pay that for the guy.
You can’t take a chance on a guy that has had two good years and one and a half bad years and take on that contract. On top of that, he is whining about wanting off of his current team because they won’t play his under-performing rear-end. Why would you take on that kind of drama? Especially at that price, I don’t think it makes sense.

9.25M is an incredible deal
for a 2B/SS/3B/CF with 35 HR/yr potential…

agree
future financial obligations for bill are daunting. don’ think anybody will take him unless milw coughs up some green. if they coughed enough, i’d take the risk because the demonstrated upside is high. don’ think anyone will look at him as immediate help, so his price will have to go down. i mean how many teams are trying to compete and trying to figure out whether to play miles or kennedy every night?
If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, perhaps you haven't grasped the situation!

Bill Hall started at second yesterday...
FWIW.
