Game 81 Open Thread: June 27 2008

St. Louis @ Kansas City

Pineiro Meche
2-3, 3.86 5-8, 4.91

i'm going to be at this game ---- work has brought me to topeka KS this weekend, about 60 miles from the royals' ballpark, so i'm going to wrap up work early and head over there. i'll preprogram a couple of overflow threads.

interesting pitching pairing featuring two former teammates, both projected in the early 200s as long-term members of the mariner rotation before flaming out, leaving seattle, and finding happiness elsewhere.

Mulder up, Parisi down, Izzy might go to DL

If Izzy hits the DL then Thompson might be called up.

Pitching on the road

his ERA was actually lower on the road but his record was poor. Now they match.

Run support

I know for a while he was getting like 9 runs of support at home. I know it’s gone down a little, but he gets great support at home.

Punchinjudy and I

were talikng about Dempster at the Rangers vs. Astros game this past wednesday. We both agreed that Dempster was due to fall back to earth. We both agreed that it would be fun to see him get shelled sooner rather than later. We both agreed that the Cubs should start to fall apart, and soon.

Agreeing is great.

Go Cards!

C'mon you Redbirds, lets prove em' wrong, again!

Yup, although, it helps when you draft Top 5 every year

The real test will be next year, when they are finally picking in the 20’s.

I hope if Thompson pitches well

that they don’t just send him down to AAA by default. I’m not the biggest fan of the guy but unlike Reyes, who’s numbers dictated that he had no place on a major league roster, Thompson has been an effective pitcher when used

Today is a sad day

Will Leitch has officially left his position as Head Editor at Deadspin, he got a job at New York Magazine. AJ Daulerio will be taking over for him.

when he announced that 3 weeks ago

the first thing i thought was us Cardinals fan lost our loudest voice in the nation media. in the world of sox, yanks & flubs, he was the one rational voice. and now, he’s gone.

sad day indeed. AJ isn’t have the editor Will is.

i can’t believe he sold out to for work the the new yorker

I understood what you are going for :P

Also, he wasn’t selling out, he’s doing what the rest of us would do, furthering our career when the opportunity is there.

My biggest fear with AJ as editor, is the main content of the website becoming alot more juvenile. AJ is funny in doses, but too much of his crude schtick could ruin the site.

i know he's not selling out

but he’s been getting killed by every one saying that for the past 3 weeks, so i thought i might as well pile on here in case he’s reading & not getting hammered celebrating his new gig.

i completely agree with you about AJ. his humor gets old real quick.

also, it's not the new yorker

it’s new york magazine. big difference – sort of like confusing us news and usa today (though, by that, i don’t mean to insult new york magazine or will).

Speaking of triple plays...

The Card’s rookie league team turned one tonight:

  • Michael Harrington singles on a fly ball to left fielder Paul Cruz.
  • Daniel Rams singles on a ground ball to center fielder Jarred Bogany. Michael Harrington to 2nd.
  • Angel Morales lines into a triple play, second baseman Alex Castellanos to first baseman Curt Smith to second baseman Alex Castellanos. Michael Harrington out at 2nd. Daniel Rams out at 1st.

Shane Roblinson continues his hot bat at memphis

Now hitting .462 in (only) 13 ABs.

What really scares me though is 5-9, 160 lbs. That isn’t the size of an OFer.

He is nothing but a mouth piece for the owners. He said nothing. I’ve been writing about this all day. He is an interim Gm and the owners are biding there time recovering from the Jocetty years.
