unless Tony decided Duncan needs to play everyday and he wouldn’t in St. Louis. That’s the only circumstance in which Duncan goes and Stavinoha stays.

McClellan and innings and appearances...
Does anyone else worry about how many innings and appearances Kyle is logging? Obviously he is performing well .. and he doesn’t look like he is tiring…
But I feel like because our bullpen is so bad…TLR is afraid to use anyone else. As a result..he puts Kyle in a lot. And well it seems like a lot of work for someone who lacks the major league experience and who has his injury history. Hello Verducci rule or whatever it is called.

In order to win one they need the offenes to stage a late inning comeback.

For a reliever to receive a loss...
it means he came into a tie game or a game his team was leading, and gave up whatever amount of runs to give up the lead for good. So how are they more likely to lose?

a bullpen is slightly more likely to lose on the road, considering the home team bats last. But the reverse is true at home, so it evens itself out.

Ludwick needs to get going again
he has been a big reason we are where we are in the standings…let’s hope he wakes up in KC.

yeah
hopefully when the Pu returns, things will improve for hitting. but I think before we had more RISP but didn’t necessarily score that many more runs. maybe now they have figured out how to get them in…

Tony has done a really good job this year
but he really has to get over his stubborness in using Duncan, Flores and Izzy. Mo needs to get these guys off the team, even if he has to but heads with Tony.

Boy this season smells an awful lot
by Hardcore Legend on Jun 26, 2008 1:07 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
and what eventually killed the team that year?
yep, you got it. the bullpen

eerily similar numbers
when you extrapolate them out
both records and, not surprisingly, the high number of walks

I think he means...
an otherwise playoff-caliber team was kneecapped one too many times by an inept bullpen…

Our rotation that year was not the greatest either
Tomko & Stephenson were not bright spots and Morris was not at his best.

oh yeah
that was the year the Cubs got in

I'm not saying they were chsmpionship-caliber...
but an average or better bullpen would have won that division.

the Marlins won the WS that year
we mighta been able to take the championship with some dumb luck

as 2006 taught us, all you have to do is get in.

Speaking of bullpens
Stormy Weathers faced 5 batters today on 6 pitches and got out of the inning!

Was is just me or did Lohse looked completely baked in his interview on FSN?
by ViperLjs on Jun 26, 2008 1:29 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Not that he didn't hurt himself tonight
but I would be baked too if I had this bullpen to follow me in a tight game.

Has this been talked about yet?
Astros pitcher Shawn Chacon was suspended indefinitely by the team Wednesday for insubordination after reportedly grabbing general manager Ed Wade by the neck and throwing him to the ground.

When they called that foul ball fair
on that ball hit past 3rd, did a run score?
by Hardcore Legend on Jun 26, 2008 1:33 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
I don't think so

Was it really foul?
The Tiger radio guys acted like the ball clearly went over the bag and was fair. I guess I foolishly took them at their word…
by LukeMP1186 on Jun 26, 2008 1:38 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Yes
the replay showed it bounce foul, then even further foul as it went over the bag.
by Hardcore Legend on Jun 26, 2008 1:39 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
Haha, wow...
They weren’t the least bit hesitant that the call was correct. They were pretty tolerable otherwise.

I've been trying not to pay too much attention to the Cubs
but man is Edmonds somewhat carrying this team right now or what? And I though he wasn’t going to last….Jimmy will be with them the rest of the year now…and will probably be the full time CF if he keeps it up. His HOF chances might be getting better than they were 2 months ago…which were slim and none. I shutter to think about it, but I bet he will be clutch for them in the playoffs if he is still heathy then.
by KYCards on Jun 26, 2008 2:01 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
it's too bad
If he hadn’t asked to be traded he could be carrying the CARDINALS right now…
by soccerfreak on Jun 26, 2008 2:30 AM EDT up reply actions 0 recs
That's rather specious logic,
But in theory, a small part of me agrees.
Well who the hell can see forever?

well of course with different circumstances he might not be playing so well
but during the rainout shannon was talking about how jimmy’s in the best shape of his life right now (sans the age) and he’s possibly only just adjusting to his better physical condition. of course, shannon was probly on his 10th beer and may have just been talking to talk…who knows

Ramirez is carrying them
He’s on one of this tears right now. But yeah Edmonds is doing great.
