For the PC

it is a modded version of MVP Baseball 2005.

Many ‘historic’ seasons have been done. A 2008 version is on the near horizon.

Wait, there is no new one

you have to have a version of MVP 2005. Then you can download total conversion mods that change it to the various seasons.

ah

I get it now. So any other decent baseball games out?

The Chacon story, cont.
Shawn Chacon, who was suspended indefinitely by the Astros, said he threw Ed Wade to the floor Wednesday after being asked to attend a meeting with the general manager and manager Cecil Cooper.

Chacon said he was told sternly by Wade that he was going to have the meeting, something he didn’t want to do. “He started yelling and cussing,” Chacon said of Wade. “I’m sitting there and I said to him very calmly, ‘Ed, you need to stop yelling (at) me. Then I stood up and said ‘you better stop yelling at me.’ I stood up. He continued and was basically yelling and stuff and was like, ‘You need to (expletive) look in the mirror.’ So at that point I lost my cool and I grabbed him by the neck and threw him to the ground. I jumped on top of him because at that point I wanted to beat his (butt). Words were exchanged.” Chacon was pulled away from Wade by a teammate before he could do any damage, which may end up saving his career. It’s still hard to imagine another team being eager to give him a chance this year.

Yeah, sure. 7-2-5-3 triple play

Duncan intentionally misses, Guns home for the force, Yadi guns to 3rd for the force, and Glaus guns out the batter.

Or…Izzy just manages to get out of it.

in a one run game, you don’t throw that ball home?

(f)izzy

still looks tentative. he doesn’t really attack the hitters/strike zone until he forces himself into a jam. his mechanics may be better, but his attitude isn’t at closer level. he needs a mind-meld with perez

yeah, I kind of don't see how you don't go for THAT dp

though I guess yadi’s not used to swivel throwing. But he also has the best arm in the infield

B/c you can't warm up pitchers instantly

and you can’t burn arms in this situation. They play again very soon and this game could likely go to extras.

by TheBirds on Jun 26, 2008 12:18 AM EDT up reply actions

Did that against boston too

tries setting up the DP pitch, but can’t locate against a lefty. But then this time he gets it on a righty. for fuck sake.

I don't know why he was in period

Izzy just doesn’t seem to have it anymore. Whether it is something physical or a mental thing, or just the fire in the belly is gone, he just doesn’t have it. Why wasn’t Springer pitching that inning?

What I like about Stavinoha is his quick swing.

It is a nice refresher from the long swings of Glaus, Ludwick and Mather.

by Egyptian on Jun 26, 2008 12:20 AM EDT up reply actions

it’s a contact swing, but he can generate reasonable power from it if the pitch is in his wheelhouse.

In general I like the swing, too

If he keeps the shoulder closed. Saw him open up & pop out a couple of times last week before he was called up. He also hit two ropes, ball just screamed off his bat :-)

Proposed New baseball rule

If a pitcher comes in to start an inning adn gives up a lead, but his team gets the lead back the next inning, the pitcher is not eligible for the win. Instead the win goes to the pitcher that was in previously…we can cll it the izzy rule
