Gullien had seen pretty much nothing but those fastballs all three at bats, and they had no movement. Only a matter of time and Lohse just kept chucking them in there.
Couple of at bats before though, Lohse got squeezed pretty bad that resulted in a walk, if he were to get those calls, could be a different ballgame.

ratsafrats
I’ve been trying to write a journal entry, but for the last week, my settings haven’t allowed me to post it for whatever reason, and I get logged out.. 3 times after I wrote 10 paragraphs and didn’t save.. damnit.
My journal entry is about this:
Trade Kyle Lohse and his 9-2 3.63 ERA to Phila for 2B Adrian Cardenas.
Don’t need Lohse, he’ll want 12+ mil next year and he CANNOT strike anyone out.. no formula for success. Phils need a #2-3 starter, with only 3 decent guys right now, and they are in contention.
Cardenas.. 06 HS Player of the Year per BA.. 20 year old in High-A, potential to hit .300-15 homers-20 steals each year.. would solve all our 2B problems. Phila can’t use him because they have Utley/Rollins
we need more back than that
trade Lohse for a high A ball player only?
With the injuries to this rotation?

we'll likely be playing philadelphia in october
and i’d rather have lohse pitching for us.
also, they let lohse go after last season. if they didn’t want to pay him last year, they won’t this year, and therefore won’t trade cardenas for half a season of lohse.
also, lohse said he wants to stay hear, on more than one occasion.

Braves and Twins don’t really have anyone we need.. How about Kyle Lohse + Bryan Anderson type player for Cameron Maybin?

true
but if they have a double header tomorrow, who’s the 2nd pitcher? and would they do better?

Probably not someone who is a possible trade piece
So the good thing about a possible rainout would be Lohse’s ERA wouldn’t blow up and maybe someone would give us more for him

Would they make the teams do that?
Given that both teams would have to pitch someone on short rest?

well, we're close enough to detroit where we may align a future date
i was just jumping the obvious assumption, but i don’t know if they will when the pitchers have already pitched

Not according to either mlb.tv or gameday
at least not yet
They say that it's never too late, but you don't get any younger...
if it's rained out?
do they just start up where they left out tomm? or is it restarted since it’s less than 5 innings?
I hear Tony La Russa may bat the Pitcher spot cleanup
It's either called
or it’s played tonight. They almost never re-start a game on another day.
by Red in Chicago on Jun 25, 2008 10:03 PM EDT up reply actions
Fair chance of a make-up DH tomorrow
if it’s called tonight before 5 are finished. If the game goes 5 complete and it’s still tied, the game will be resumed tomorrow.
by StanTheManFan on Jun 25, 2008 10:11 PM EDT up reply actions
I think if it's resumed tonight it will finish tonight

i believe
if it goes five it can be called official anf that’s that
if it is called by umps at less than 5 full for weather, it’s a start over
if it runs past 5, but hits another obstacle (lights go out, curfews, etc), it is suspended and resumed at a later date
If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, perhaps you haven't grasped the situation!
I do beleive
that if it goes past 5 and there the away team takes the lead (or ties) in a inning and the game is called before that inning ends then the home team gets a chance to either finish the inning or to finish the game ( i can’t remember which one)
I hear Tony La Russa may bat the Pitcher spot cleanup
reverts to previous complete inning in that case
If you can keep your head when all about you are losing theirs, perhaps you haven't grasped the situation!
I don't think so i beleive that they changed that last year
unless they changed it back I’m pretty sure thats the rule
I hear Tony La Russa may bat the Pitcher spot cleanup
the game would be suspended
mlb rule 4.2 (under suspened games)
5) Weather, if a regulation game is called while an inning is in progress and before the inning is completed, and the visiting team has scored one or more runs to take the lead, and the home team has not retaken the lead; or
(6) It is a regulation game that is called with the score tied. National Association Leagues may also adopt the following rules for suspended games. (If adopted by a National Association League, Rule 4.10(e) would not apply to their games.):
I hear Tony La Russa may bat the Pitcher spot cleanup
..
it’s not a regulation game yet – only top of the 5th

I'm just saying
The holdup now (as I understand it) is the field situation. So if they get that under control, the game should get in because no more rain is coming.

Interesting...from MLB Rules
8) If a game is suspended before it becomes a regulation game, and is continued prior to another regularly scheduled game, the regularly scheduled game with be limited to seven innings.

that would be awesome.
the batter before him would keep stepping out at 11:58, re-adjusting the batting gloves.
possible make up dates
July 7 – STL heading from home to Philadelphia. DET heading home from Seattle
Aug 4 – STL off day during home stand, not idel. DET on their way from Tampa to Chicago
Aug 21 – STL off day during home stand again. DET in the middle of road trip between Arlington and Kansas City. Unlikely.
Aug 28 – STL heading from home to Houston. DET off day during home stand.
The other option is to play the game at the end of the season if the game is needed to decide a playoff spot (almost happened in 2006 against SF).
They would just make it up tomorrow
and play a DH.

Besides Wellemeyer, the Cardinals will need another starter. Boggs has to be held out because of the Mulder situation and Thompson can’t be called back up yet.

Bullpen game if it's K-Mac
Not that I’d mind just doing a straightforward bullpen game
They say that it's never too late, but you don't get any younger...
no bullpen game
we need them available in case wellemeyer gets lit up like he did last time out, or mulder does this weekend if he pitches.
Mulder is three days past tomorrow, though
Even if we use every guy out of the bullpen, it won’t still be stretched out by then. The Wellemeyer point is valid. But that’s why you have him pitch the first game.

pineiro starts friday on normal rest.
if mulder can’t start saturday, then you consider parisi, if he wasn’t needed out of the pen in the previous three games. otherwise i guess you’re looking at thompson or looper on three days rest.
Yeah, I think that makes the most sense
Espeically since we won’t be playing the Tigers anymore by saturday. Do the thing that at least leaves the possibility of not doing something crazy.

OT: Nice story about admin folks in our minor league system
A co-worker was wanting to make sure he saw Jess Todd pitch when Springfield was in Little Rock to play the Travs. He says, what the hell, I’ll use this “Contact Us” button on the S-Cards website and see if someone in cyberspace can tell me the possible starters for that series. 5 minutes later he gets an email with his answer. I’m very impressed because I’ve never gotten a response from a “Contact Us” button.

Yeah
Amazon Kindle is an electronic ebook reader with a built in wireless EVDO internet, The same high speed internet that is on phones, I can download a full book in 30 seconds. Once you buy the kindle there is no monthly subscription for the internet either.
2 Options one you can pay 99 cents a month with no comments but looks better than the free experimental browser with comments. I am still figuring it all out though
