A couple of years ago, a couple of my friends and I decided it would be fun to drive to Ohio State the night before the big OSU-Mich game (this was when they were #1 & #2, respectively). We camped out on campus, and tailgated during the game, while watching the game on a battery-powered TV. It was a lot of fun, even though we could(n't) have cared less who won the game.
The following year, we decided to repeat the trip, but this time we went to an IU game, where my cousin goes to school. Again, a lot of fun, but again didn't care who won.
This year, we decided we'd like to make the trip to a game we actually care about. We also decided it would be fun to actually "go to" the game, rather than watch on TV. Obviously, we decided a Cardinals game would be the most fun, since we're all Cards fans. We don't exactly feel comfortable just picking a spot in the middle of St. Louis and pitching a tent for the night. (plus, we'd probably get arrested!)
My current thought is to find a local campground for a Friday night. Get a hotel close to the field for Saturday night. We could camp out Friday night, Drive to a parking lot close to the field to tailgate Saturday morning. Tailgate, and attend the game, and walk to the hotel after the game.
Does anyone have any suggestions of a campground close by (not an RV park)? Any better suggestions on ways to make this work (safely)?
Your help is much appreciated!!
