Phillies/Cardinals Game Thread Game 70

There wasn't one up so I thought I'd take some of the bandwidth pressure off the main thread for today.

PHI Pitcher: Adam Eaton (2-3, 4.62)

STL Pitcher: Kyle Lohse (7-2, 3.92)

Let's go Cardinals!! Beat those Phillies!!

Um, trying to get to 75 words...let's not give up 20 runs tonight, I hope Lohse has a revenge game today, and let's have multiple HRs from Ankiel, Ludwick, Glaus, Molina, hell even Kennedy!

I'm not a Howard fan...

sure he’s from StL. Sure, he can hit the ball a country mile.
I think he’ll end up in the AL, as a DH for the Yankees and be next Giambi.

I don't care for him either...

Power and nothing else. Strikes out a ton, doesn’t hit for average, and a horrible defender. Gotta be the most egregious MVP winner in recent memory, considering Albert’s monster year statistically and everything else he brought (brings) to the table.

it’s fairly “run neutral”, slightly pitcher friendly, but according to ESPN’s park factors, only Petco and RFK were harder places to hit a home run in 2007.

Oh wow

Thanks for the info. I’m very surprised to see the Ballpark at Arlington completely neutral for HR and pitcher friendly for runs!

well that's also a 1-year park factor

there’s lots of noise. Look at ‘05 and ‘06 too- arlington was an extreme hitters park in ‘05. busch doesn’t change much, though it was easier to hit HR’s there in ‘06 than ‘07 and seems to be easier this year as well.

Why Mather down for Reyes??

Seems with the DH coming it would be more useful for Duncan and have Mather in the field. The article says withthe DH coming then we can handle an extra pitcher. I understand thatwe wont have to change pitchers as much for pinch hitters, but that means the DH is gonna be Miles or some shit.

I’d have stuck with Mather for awhile longer and seen if he was going to get more comfortable and heat up.

Molina has turned himself into a pretty good hitter this year

Of course his straight numbers are probably overrating him due to his awful speed on the bases, but a 93% contact rate is stellar.
