Shane Robinson

Has anyone noticed  that Shane Robinson is hitting over 400 in Springfield?  Slugging close to 600, OPS over 1000.   He went 3-4 yesterday and again today.   I gather that he is rather much on the diminutive side, but does anyone think he is a legit prospect?  Where would he fit at Memphis?  Can he play multiple positions?  Which position player is most likely to be called up thus setting the dominoes cascading and stacking?  Is Robinson the most likely Springfield call up?

I'll take a stab

I’ve seen him play several times this year, and diminutive is a very accurate description. he does play a nice outfield and can play all three positions, with a slightly above average arm, good, not great speed, but good instincts on both side of the ball. it’s tough to see him as a starting outfielder, but I could see him getting slapped with the managers favorite tag at some point and breaking camp as an fifth outfielder type.

I hate to throw out the generic eckstein comp, but it fits some here. he doesn’t walk much, but works counts well, has a line drive swing, a little bit of doubles pop, but uses those great instincts to get the most out of his abilities.

With all that said, I can’t imagine how he would get the call to memphis over jays much more mature approach and loftier status within the organization.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

Dude is a contact machine

Has never posted a K rate over 10%, that’s a little lower than Schumaker even. I think he’s highly likely to be trade bait given all the outfield bodies in front of him.

I agree with this assessment

I’ve seen him play several times as well. In fact, one time he made a remarkable running play in foul territory just mere inches away from me against the infield wall. He definitely give it his all on every play.

Yeah,

somebody remarked the other day that we had another Schumaker down on the farm.

but schumaker

never put up numbers like that, even in his third time through AAA (as a 27yo).

And I awoke in California, far far from Spancilhill...

Yeah,

Might have a future NL batting champion down on the farm.
