Jimmy

Why do athletes have to leave the game so gracelessly? He should’ve retired after the WS win in 06 and rode off into the sunset. It’s just sad and pathetic. Of course, he made quite a bit of coin off that act.

by spants on May 6, 2008 11:07 PM EDT up reply actions

retire after 07

I think he was going to retire after last year but the Cards declined their 07 option and resigned him to a 2 year deal.. kind of left him no other choice

No

Jimmy was so much more banged up, what with the feet and the head injuries. Maybe that’s why he couldn’t properly assess whether he could keep playing…

shouldn't there be a separate statistical category of "save" to be distinguished from a save?

If you make the game a save situation and you simply fail to screw up sufficiently badly, that’s very different from coming into a 5-4 game and knocking out three guys in a row.

by tom s. on May 6, 2008 11:38 PM EDT reply actions

2 men on means that even if the game had been 7-2, he would have earned a save.
