Hell of a throw by Ankiel

I’m all alone in this thread.

Hope

the kids didn’t make him leave early.

two words:

Holy Shit….

If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

As bad as Jimmy E is sucking for San Diego

Mo is looking great for making that trade

Jimmy

Why do athletes have to leave the game so gracelessly? He should’ve retired after the WS win in 06 and rode off into the sunset. It’s just sad and pathetic. Of course, he made quite a bit of coin off that act.

by spants on May 6, 2008 11:07 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

retire after 07

I think he was going to retire after last year but the Cards declined their 07 option and resigned him to a 2 year deal.. kind of left him no other choice

As seen on Bleed Cubbie Blue message board... "Wait until the Cardinals call up Rasmus..."

Will Clark

How many here though he should have come back for another year? It cuts both ways.

by DriverZn on May 6, 2008 11:13 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

No

Jimmy was so much more banged up, what with the feet and the head injuries. Maybe that’s why he couldn’t properly assess whether he could keep playing…

+1

I knew he’d have a good arm, but they must’ve had an inside track

Rick

Loop w/ honorable mention

Changing my vote

to Ankiel. Just saw both his throws. UNBELIEVABLE. Damn I hope we keep him next year.

5.033 service years

at the end of 2008 so we have him under control through 2009 at a minimum

Phew!

I thought that this was it for some reason. Is he arbitration eligible? Is that what I’m thinking of?

by spants on May 6, 2008 11:45 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Yes this year and next

he signed before the hearing this year. Who knows what will happen with his limited history for comparisons.

by ubeddie on May 6, 2008 11:46 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

Gotta be Rick

It would be a completely different game without those catches and the HR

did he look safe to you?

it was a damn close play, but looked like his hand might have beat the tag, just not sure.

I don't think he got to the base

Looks like Glaus blocked the base with his foot.

by mojowo11 on May 6, 2008 11:11 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

yeah

Glaus knew he was out.

I think Glaus got him

but I’d have to see it again to be sure. I was still gawking at the amazing throw when he applied the tag, so I didn’t watch closely enough.

maybe this will help ankiel get a look at an all-star ballot?

Right now, I’m thinking I can vote for Albert and Yadi with a straight face.
