i'll be back at the ballpark tonight by popular demand ---- that is, my two kids' demand that i take them to the game. they're 6 and 4 years old, and it's a school night; i doubt we last till the 7th-inning stretch, but who knows? last july in st louis they made it through all 9 innings of a game vs the dbacks. my wife's at a board meeting tonight, so it'll just be me, the kids, and the two giant plumes of cotton candy . . . . .

Demand
I thought the demand was from we the blog reading public since I’m sure it was your mere presence that willed the Cardinals to victory last night.

Mulder done?
per Goold
Cardinals lefty Mark Mulder is on his way to St. Louis — not to throw a bullpen or workout at the facilities at Busch Stadium, but to meet with the team’s doctor about his twice surgically repaired left shoulder.

Am I the only one
that doesnt want to see him in the rotation this year?
I feel bad for saying it, but I just dont think he can help this club.

No...
I honestly think it would take some sort of miracle to be able to help this club this year. He hasn’t pitched in such a long time, and hasn’t pitched effectively in a longer one. I wouldn’t root against him, but I just don’t see how he can help.
Start Ludwick vs righties (maybe this will work)

I hope he's okay
and can come back and be effective for the Cards. I like the guy and would hate to see this shoulder injury end his career with St Louis.

could something else be going on?
I know we have carp insured against injury. Is mulder? B/c that would be the only way to salvage revenue from his contract—to have him declared medically unable to pitch at a big league level.

man-oh-man...
I love that lineup.
No Duncan, Luddy in cleanup, Ankiel at 6… the Schu/Barton tradeoff should be about even… it’s darn near perfect.

Except for Schu not being in the lineup – dude is absolutely on fire lately – it looks great…but that’s okay, he’ll probably be a 4th inning defensive substitution. I’d almost rather see Glaus in the 6-hole IMO.

No way
Last 5 games he’s putting up a .182/.217/.409 clip for a .626 OPS. And we’re facing a lefty. He’s been solid this season, so he should take a well-deserved night off tonight.

as much as I was happy to see him go,
let’s all wish Kip Wells a speedy recovery from the clot surgery. The clot is a threat not just to his career but to his life. He’s getting the surgery done locally at Barnes-Jewish.

His infant daughter just had surgery not too long ago, and Mrs. Wells is expecting again.
Very stressful times for them; I hope they’re all okay.

I hate when the organization does this
It really bugs me when they say a guy is ready to go and they get all roughed up and then they blame it on an injury. Is this the 5th time they have done this with Marky Mark?
He stinks, instead of wasting more money on this project shut him down, trade him for a bag of balls and use the money we would have spent on his rehab on our draft picks..

just announced
Cardinals send Mark Mulder to the Rangers for 3 bags of practice balls, 1 case of printer paper 8.5X11 in., and a Steve Carlton rookie card mint condition, and the centerpiece of the deal is: 150 pounds of beef jerkey in different types

For those that didn't see it
Glaus hit a ball hard off the mound, it bounced up. The pitcher tried to catch it but instead knocked it with his glove to Atkins who threw Glaus out at first.

I always thought the stronger armed fielder is in right
So it is less likely that a runner can tag from second on a fly ball to right maybe I overanalyze it
