Honestly
I don’t care about people being offensive because I have thick skin. This isn’t a statement about how the comparison is “offensive”. But honestly, I am getting a bit tired of all of these comparisons of Fukudome to either Godzilla or Ichiro…I mean, we get it, they’re all Japanese….

what's funny
is that Fox did a side-by-side shot of Fukudome and Kaz Matsui yesterday to show how they were alike and not Ichiro…even quoted Ichiro’s first batting coach in Seattle as saying that F-dome and Ichiro were not alike. But didn’t someone say earlier that Joe was at the Derby…guess he can be excused from doing his research. ;o)

Fukudome – 348 average, 448 on base pct, 23 runs, 1 HR, 12 RBI, 3 SB

That was a strike????
I’ll take it, but that ump was not giving us that pitch all night, & now we get the call? Maybe he had pity on izzy….or on us…
40th anniversary of Gibson's 1.12 ERA, Think he could pitch in the bullpen now?

Izzy was channeling
Izzy version 2002 there

Yeah, great last year
but that heater reminded me of 2002

okay, everybody

I know, alot of people think that way
But it’s a novelty, I think that’s why I like it. I’m VERY glad it’s not a year-round thing, a la the NBA, NHL, or NFL.

the only reason it's still around is for
NY, Chi town, NOCAL & SOCAL.
every where else, no one really cares. i know KC loves to face the Cards, but we don’t really care about them do we? no. not really.
it’s stupid, and it needs to go away. ASAP.
I'm going to go try to find a puppy and kick it. - Brad Thompson AND THAT'S A WINNER!
don't like interleague
it’s crap. plus, don’t we have yet to play the Yankees and the White Sox? those are the teams I want to see us play

You mean, in the history of interleague?
We got swept by the White Sox in ‘06, the blowout-blowout-one-hitter series. And back in the early days it was Central Division every year.
As for the Yankees, Clemens got his 3000th K against us, and I think I recall a big Scott Seabol HR against them one year.
I was at that game
we were sitting in the upper deck in left field.. . that one yankees closer was throwing balls to the fans from the field, I don’t know how many he threw completely out of the stadium. Rivera has a freak arm

Considering that there's been no interleague play so far
I don’t see how that’s even remotely an indicator of anything of the sort.
Do we know

Well done!
2 of 3 from the baby bears. So, how long before the Cards are considered “legitimate”?
They can’t say, “Well, they haven’t played anyone ”, becaue we just took 2 of 3 from a so-called “good” team.
"Is this Heaven?"
"No, it;s Iowa."
"I could've sworn it was Heaven."
Not just a "good" team
but the team considered to be the class of the NL

...when the cubs are considered a “good” team.
Awesome game tonight. Glad the decent Izzy showed up.
I think that qualified
as the great Izzy

Indeed
He looked nasty tonight. I’d rather not see another cutter from him this season

one could argue
Izzy is healthy, he just has a mechanical problem of some sort with the cutter….I’m not sure if I buy it, but there it is.
well that's what he said
and it’s hard to doubt considering he pumped it up to 94
"How depressing is it being you? Would you equate it to being a lifelong Cubs fan?"
that is what I would argue
I think we all know Izzy is in love with that cutter. Glad to see he used it sparingly tonight

overworking wainwright
anybody else think too much has been made about the 126 effort by him…two starts ago. i’d also like to give some love to kennedy for his start. went from cringing when he came up to being indifferent, thats a big step
yeah
it’s just one start. not a big deal. now, if they make that a pattern… bad.

signs of life
Kennedy is playing much better than last yr its still may but hey
Iz 2 in this series did better even at little things…like when he made it to third and then scored to tie it at 2…and got a hit that inning two..ya i know he made an error but lets look at positive.
bottom of the order has been hitting at times…things to build on i think
wish like i said abotu reyes last yr that welly could go a bit deeper but he tends to labor at times thus keeping him at 5
Kmac was this guy a big prospect coming up? Pleasant surprise to me.
I can't believe i gave up a homerun to that punch and judy hitter-major league 2
KMac wasn't much of a prospect
I think he was ranked our 24th or so best prospect
boo cubs, hooray beer
Weaver
Anyone else notice that Jeff Weaver signed with the brewers a while ago? I just found that out. How sad for me.
"its still may"
Yes, they are but thirty-two games into the season, and despite the 20-12 start, and being in 1st place(for now), tempered enthusiasm/angst and the like should be the rule of the day, IMO. This team has a lot of holes in it, and some can, and will be, plugged; while others may take a hell of a lot of spackle just to make them serviceable.
As that great philosopher, Lee “Not So Fast My Friend” Corso would say, it’s a marathon, not a sprint.
If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
