How many times has Joe made an ass of himself so far? I count three.

- Right before the first pitch, he said Wellemeyer doesn’t throw hard. Then Wellemeyer blew away Soriano on a 96 MPH fastball.

- Morgan discussed how Fukudome is like Ichiro because he drags his back foot, while ESPN showed footage of Fukudome not dragging his back foot.

- Morgan discussed OBP, saying that guys at the very top of the order need it because they have to have the big guys drive them in to score runs. As my roommate said, “What, the other guys don’t score runs, Joe?”

Am I missing anything?

Well

Apparently, Soriano’s “personality” is suited for lead off. Even if his OBP is atrocious. His “personality” says otherwise.

And

That tailing 2-seamer than Pujols just drilled down the line was “definitely not his fastball” and was, in fact, a slider.

Chess?

What are the odds that jon or joe actually know ANYTHING about chess? Sometimes, when they commentate, I feel like i’m listening to two bricks talking to each other.

The worst ever was last year they said “Now, if he’d only fallen faster he could have made that play” “well, if he was a better player he could have done that.” I’m not sure which said which, but it doesn’t really matter…

yadi

I know that when you look at the stats on BP, etc, , those runners thrown out attempting to steal, or picked off bythe catcher are not suppose to quantify asmany run across the season, and that those stats favor a better hitting catcher over a better fielding one. But I really think that having that ability back behind the plate is one of those intangibles that is very difficult to quantify. I think it obviously keeps teams from running adn I think ther is a demoralizing fator as well.
