Jaime Garcia Promoted
Just found this article, but top Cardinals pitching prospect Jaime Garcia was just promoted to AAA Memphis. This comes less than a week from Bryan Anderson's promotion, and sure makes one think that more moves could be coming. No official announcement has been released yet from Memphis or Springfield that I can find, and therefore we can only speculate on who will be demoted or released to make room for Garcia; but my guess is that someone like Josh Wasdin may be headed out the door. As I stated in my previous post about Anderson, Memphis is becoming one nice little minor league club now. It certainly is nice to see a crop of young, home grown talent knocking at the door...
So far Garcia is 3-2 with a 2.06 ERA on the year, with 41 K's in 35 innings. The kid is downright impressive in my opinion. To view his Minor League player profile, click here.

I’m sure we’ll hear more on this today, but it’s being rumored over at Future Redbirds that Walters was also promoted with Jess Todd and Tyler Herron moving to AA. I sure hope this is the case. It seems that Mo and Co. are staying true to their word of aggressively promoting prospects. One would think that Jose Martinez will also be promoted sooner rather than later, and David Kopp could also be in AA by mid-season. I really think that next year will be LaDunc’s last year, because there’s no way that by 2010 Tony and Dunc are going to want to deal with all these kids….Would Dewitt/Mo even want them handling them?
AAA Rotation:
Parisi
Boggs
Garcia
Walters
Hawksworth/Mulder
AA Rotation:
Daniels
Mortenson
Herron
Todd
Ottavino (DL)/Raushenberger
How long has it been since a Triple-A Cardinals affiliate had a 5-man homegrown rotation?

Garcia and Walters would be fine with Duncan
Both fit right into his mold. No reason to expect conflicts there.
Todd and Worrel might have issues.
Garcia's K rate might be an issue......
I’m wondering if they are gearing up to release Mr. Mulder….....
She isn't crazy, she's just not impressed.
yea...
its hard for me to envision either Mulder or Clement making any type of significant contribution. At this point, I have no problem cutting ties with both. I’d rather see Boggs/Garcia/Parisi/Walters get a shot if a starter was needed.

like Ghost, I'm wavering too
I’ve been too optimistic about Mulder returning to some semblance of his good years, and I confess I was excited about picking up Clement… and even tho’ this early hot streak for the Birds may begin to slip to normalcy, I’m at a point now where I like the WAY we are progressing—on the big club and system wide.
I was in Jan, Feb, Mar and April all for building for ‘09 and ‘10. And the excellent W-L performance early ‘08 really doesn’t change that. I’m no longer craning my neck looking for the Mulder or Clement bus to pull up to the station. If we lose them, we lose them.
Carpenter, however, is a different breed of cat. We DO need him (for ‘09 and ‘10 I mean).
K rate an issue?
Explain that one please. As far as I can tell Duncan isn’t going to make people not strike people out, just make them pitch down in the zone, with the elevated pitch as a K pitch.

Wow, excellent
It’s pretty exciting to see a pair of 21-year-olds making their way to AAA. Very exciting, actually.
don't forget..
Rasmus is also 21.

Tear it up!
Watching Garcia’s and Walter’s last outings was all kinds of fun. I got the feeling one or both were going to Memphis….... along with Anderson, I really hate to see them go so early in the season, but hey….. tear it up and good luck!! Welcome to Springfield Todd and Herron!
Mulder
speaking of MMulder, everytime I see Haren and Daric Barton I get a sick feeling in my stomach…..
Yeah
Daric .259 BA/ 1 HR/ 13 RBI/ .365 OBP/ .362 SLG/ .727 OPS
Duncan .257 BA/ 2 HR/ 6 RBI/ .385 OBP/ .378 SLG/ .763 OPS
Duncan has not even really started hitting, I don’t get why people can’t say yeah it sucked losing Haren but Barton is a moot point as he really has no spot on the current big league team for the Cards
