Morning In Paris
I'm on vacation in Paris, of all places, and I woke up at 7:45 this morning ... to Cardinals baseball! Those rain delays on the West Coast work out perfectly if you happen to find yourself in Europe with MLB.tv.
Not sure why Franklin was back in after the delay, but I ain't complaining. It's always quite the relief to see Andruw Jones coming in as your opponent's last hope.
So, like, au revoir, or something.

baseball players born in france include bruce bochy (from landes de bussac), steve jeltz (paris), and charlie lea (orleans). and xavier nady comes from a long, proud line of frenchmen.

What was interesting to me was that
Jones was the second option after Young to pinch hit.

Not that much of a surprise to me
a home run ends the game, and a double probably does, too. Both teams are tired and want to go home after the rain delay. Put in the guy who gives you the best chance to win the game in that at bat.

I live in France...
And this is the thanks I get for sleeping in. Glad some people far away got the game in…I’m looking forward to today’s game, which begins at 10PM here.
By the way, my students at the elementary school were utterly fascinated when I showed them the 9th Inning of Game 7 of the NLCS in 2006. I wanted to show an example of what baseball is and they loved it, though the rules didn’t make much sense to them. There’s hope for the rest of the world yet…

I'm in China at the moment
I also managed to catch the game around noon Sunday today, local time. (It’s now 12:30 a.m. on Monday, for the record.) No, not on one of the 35 government-controlled TV stations, but on my Slingbox player. (My dad in Missouri has a slingbox hooked up to his tv, and I sneakily installed it onto the company laptop I’m using. Shh.)
go cards.

Ironically
My parents just landed in Paris. My mom has always wanted to go there, and she finally got my dad to take her.

Every person on this planet....
Should take a trip to Paris if given the chance. It’s one of the world’s greatest cities, and there’s never a dull moment. I’ve been there seven times over the past six years (two study abroad programs in France and now a 9-month English assistant program) and it never grows old. There are so many things to do and see that there’s a reason to keep going back, time and time again.
Man it’s nice to hear Mike Shannon at 10PM on a rainy Sunday night here!
