The players probably want it over too

it’s wonderful. Games start at 5:00. I’m done watching by 7:00 and then head out to dinner with some friends. I couldn’t ask for better.

Franklin in for an 8-run game?

Does this mean anything? Wouldn’t you hold your closer out for this situation?

Raconteur -

American via Maplewood living on Okinawa – you?

by akaitori on May 22, 2008 1:17 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

American, still living in St. Louis

I was just curious if you were Japanese because I wonder if there are many Cardinals fans over there who were born there. I know the Red Sox and Yankees have a decent following over there, I was hoping maybe we got a little love thanks to our years of So Taguchi

agree very much

that made me really wonder what would have happened to edwin jackson on saturday if the ball pujols wizzed past his head had hit him

it may have actually killed him

Pujols is the greatest Cardinal in my lifetime.

night all

not sure when my next apperance in a game thread will be, but it’s been fun the last 3 nights.

Hittracker agreed that Pujols HR was 405 feet

i guess it just looked longer

by Raconteur on May 22, 2008 1:28 AM EDT reply actions   0 recs

I don't understand how it's actual distance

and true distance can be the same, when the thing hit a building 200 feet up in the air. What, was it going to go straight down if the building wasn’t there.

My trig is alittle rusty but I don’t think that’s right.

by Hardcore Legend on May 22, 2008 1:58 AM EDT up reply actions   0 recs

i don't believe it

no way was it only 405. no F’ing way.

they have it as a graphic

I don’t know, that was one of the hardest hit balls I’ve ever seen. Sure seems like it should have gone farther.

Raconteur

My sense is Japanese fans more loyal to individual players than teams. When you see baseball paraphanelia here, it’s inevitably related to one of the national players. Don’t recall seeing too many jersies without Ichiro or Matsuda or some such. One problem here is that MLB TV in blocked by Japanese media. They show games featuring teams with Japanese players and have nightly recaps featuring Japanese players’ highlights.
