Game 49 overflow I

the cards with RISP tonight: 5 for 8 with two walks. and there is still a RISP (ludwick) as i type this with two outs in the top of the 4th. pujols might be a tad distracted out there; hope those two injured padres heal up quick. cards lead it 6-2.

Hopefully

those two on strikeouts help Looper settle down, he’s got the run support which he didn’t have last time. Let’s get him a win.

Worse case scenario we have a rested pen with a day off looming. let’s take this series

haven’t heard any updates on him as of late, though.. with the history of the Cardinals and medical, maybe hearing nothing at all is a good thing (as opposed to hearing great hopes and comeback tales only to be fallacies)

The next time you feel like complaining

about how much pro ballplayers are paid, think about this game. How much money would you want to make if you were exposed day in, day out to what happened to those two Pads?

still doesn't really justify their pay

i think i could deal with the hazards.

Rick Ankiel could throw out Chuck Norris. Easy.

don't want to get all political,

but if we paid soldiers 5% of what we paid baseball players, there wouldn’t be many wars.

There are so many in Canada (I’m Canadian). I prefer Okanagan Pale Ale, but there are hundreds, and none of them are called Labatts!

Looper

What are we at, 75 pitches? This is just about where Looper heads severely downhill.

I’m hoping the 4th was his last inning, though I know Tony will probably trot him out there in the 5th so he can qualify for the win. If we send Loop out there again, this game could get tight really quick. I just hate it that we always wait to change the pitcher after bad shit goes down.

by lightbulb on May 21, 2008 11:49 PM EDT   0 recs

The logic of the pay

We’re watching this game: TV rights money.
We pay for the tickets.
We buy the merchandise.
We buy the concessions etc etc.

They’re taking their cut, or would you rather it go to a 5 person ownership group?

It’s such a pet peeve of mine when anyone complains about salaries (not that anyone was really doing it, but it’s the principle of the thing damnit…)

I'd be down for that

Off of your off topic:

Why don’t teams change nicknames when they change cities?

Los Angeles Lakers – because the lakes are so plentiful in SoCal
Memphis Grizzlies – because the southern part of the Mississippi is the Grizzlies’ natural habitat

And the best…

Utah Jazz – because if there’s one thing Mormons know, it’s jazz music
