I dunno

if he’s DONE, but he’s getting close to his final year for sure. I think it could be time to spot some others in the closer role.

is it his hip?

Is this another Rolen/Mulder situation where the guy is denying an obvious injury?

by nota bene on May 2, 2008 11:10 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

I wouldn't say he's denying it

Maybe trying to play through the pain, but not denying

sorry

that should have read more like “is this another situation where the team is running a guy out there who’s clearly hurt”

by nota bene on May 2, 2008 11:13 PM EDT to parent up reply reply   0 recs

wow we have not gotten any of the low calls

It seems like the Cubs have gotten all the low pitches for strikes. Plus Izzy is done

I wouldn't mind

seeing McClellan in there for a day or two,

by ArkansasTravs on May 2, 2008 11:10 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

Maybe we need to tag-team

Limit Izzy to a couple of games/week. Let K-Mac or Reyes take a turn.

by gocards62 on May 2, 2008 11:10 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

That's what I'm thinking.

Give Izzy more days off, and try others in the role.

he's fallen in love with that cutter

gotta see some variation in pitches here

Izzy

is a mess.

he looks turnbow-esque.

by RedbirdAvenger on May 2, 2008 11:11 PM EDT reply reply   0 recs

If I was a grinder like Thompson who gutted his way into the rotation,

and then got bumped to Memphis and watched Izzy implode like this without saying he was injured, I’d be annoyed.

10 runs last 6.2 innings

Somethin is very not right. Motte/Perez sitting at AAA more than ready (21 Ks in 12 innings for Motte, 14 in 12.2 for Perez)

With no evidence to the contrary, Colby Rasmus is clutch

I'ma go send an application to the Cardinals tomorrow.

I can blow two- and three-run leads for way less than they’re paying Izzy.

you know, after everything IZZY's done for us

i would think you all would cut the guy some slack.

i’m just as pissed off as you are, but damnit that’s IZZY!

he’s given us everything he’s got, and he deserves a hell of a lot more from us fans than this.

gdm

please tell us what we SHOULD be saying.

that it’s okay?

because it’s not.

our closer is not performing and hasn’t been for weeks.

once he gets the damn ERA under 6.00.

I'm not pissed at him for blowing a save. Or even three saves.

What I think I’m pissed about is that I think he’s injured again and not saying anything.

Blowing a save b/c you don’t have your stuff happens.

Blowing a save b/c you can’t say I need rest/rehab (especially after 2006) is ridiculous.

coming up with a mysterious injury and being put on the DL?

The only thing that will make me happy tonight

is to get out of this inning with a tied score

and then a first pitch walk off HR.

Watching game on WGN to avoid Al's dribble

And thank goodness for that, I don’t know of I could take him and a blown save in 1 night.

On the bright side,

Turnb—-, I mean Wood, is going to pitch for the Cubs in the bottom of t he 9th.

Keep it tied, and ANk or Albert will hit a walk off.

Izzy needs to go to the DL

or will it be like 2006 when the Cardinals’ incompetent medical staff failed to protect Izzy from his own bullheaded ignorance? This bush league medical operation is a real problem. Ask Rolen, Mulder and Carpenter.
