Wainwright pretty steady tonight
One mildly hairy inning, but he got out of it with minimal damage.
Now, if only TLR would stop overthinking everything.

I just can't believe the marginal gains
of a lefty vs. righty matchup that TLR got outwiegh the possibility of having Skip available for a high leverage L/R matchup late in the game.
TLR just needs to learn to sit on his GD hands sometimes.

I don’t think I can have contempt for JD Drew any longer. Getting rid of him brought us Wainer.
We have got to put some runs up against Lieber soon
Otherwise he’ll pitch most the rest of the game, negating the benefit of knocking Hill out in the 1st.

it just seems like that.
But they are hitting .279 with RISP, OPS of .795, .299 with Runners On, .821 OPS and overall, .279 with an OPS of .788
Pretty consistent, really. Even their RISP with 2 outs is .265 with an OPS of .774
It’s just with the OBP of the team so high, you get a lot of LOB.
Start Ludwick vs righties (maybe this will work)

Except for Ludwick
Our power hitters have been popup machines lately.
The time has come for someone to put his foot down and that foot is me
Springer warming up too.
Do I sense a lack of confidence in Izzy?

‘06 izzy (ouch)or ‘07 izzy (hooray)
The time has come for someone to put his foot down and that foot is me
defensive indifference
with yadi behind the plate is just frigging stupid.
And I awoke in California, far far from Spancilhill...
totally agree
stealing should be costly.
Curse you Endy!!!!!
are the pitchers just slow to the plate this year?
yadi hasn’t had a chance with a lot of baserunners.
Inexcusable with Yadi behind the plate
the runner should at least be forced to slide

He and Prince Fielder should play for Oakland
That way they have “Athletics” across their jerseys

speaking of which
with the advent of pitch f/x, curveballs really con’t look how I expected them to.
Curse you Endy!!!!!
I still don't really trust pitch f/x....
but it seems to correspond pretty well to the way people on TV see it, so….
not for the Cards pitchers it hasn't

What did I say?
Bad Izzy of ‘06
The time has come for someone to put his foot down and that foot is me
FUCK THAT
Get Izzy outta there, that piece of crap. No W for Wainwright b/c Izzy sucks balls. Jeezus tapdancing Christ.

hmm
a young reliever who was always a starter coming in to replace a struggling Izzy? Deja vu (hopefully)

Yeah.
After his “adventures” tonight, probably best to put your fucking head down and run around the bases.
Brilliant
Should have tossed him a routine pop-up, he wouldn’t have touched it.

He's got a bad hip...
his surgery wasn’t going to fix it forever, looks like one year was it.
Start Ludwick vs righties (maybe this will work)
It was me
Do you guys notice like a hitch in his stride?

He's hurt
but the Cardinals’s crack medical staff won’t acknowledge it until he is on the 60-day DL
The time has come for someone to put his foot down and that foot is me
I'm sorry but I'm sick of the "not injured, not injured, whoops season ending surgery" dance
Please. We have the pitchers. If he needs rest, rest him. Don’t put him out there to get beat up on.
Good ol' Izzy
Can’t be easy can it?
I’d say 50/50 DLee hits a solo shot.
Izzy will make those who think he should lose his job look stupid eventually. Not this game though.
That cutter
Has blown so many games for the cards.

If We Lose a Game...
in which we knocked the opposing team’s starter out in the first inning, that’s a true blue embarrassment.
Oh come on
stop.
IZZY’s only human. you hang em & players bang em.
the Cards O should have scored 8 runs tonight. IZZY shouldn’t even be in there right now.
I'm going to go try to find a puppy and kick it. - Brad Thompson AND THAT'S A WINNER!
You make a good point
But he’s paid to NOT make this happen, and it’s happening a lot lately. If I didn’t do my job correctly all the time, I’d be fired.
Rasmus or bust.
true, they should have scored more...
but it’s Izzy’s job to close it down in the close ones. no matter what the O does.
The Dude abides.
Blown saves happen.
A 7+ ERA by the man you need to step up and be your closer should not. Izzy is simply not getting the job done.

is kind of suspicious for a closer, no?

even the cubs announcers are saying...
izzy’s cutter isn’t cutting. if they can see it – why doesn’t duncan or tony?
Really tired
of fans at the stadium booing the home team.
Especially with the Cubs in town, we oughta be showing him how it’s done.
It seems like it's been happening
more often over the last two or three seasons. I hate it, and am also embarrassed.

REGARDING BOOING
let’s be clear: if there is one thing worth booing, it’s izzy’s performance thus far this season.
the fans are responding the the consistency of his poor performance – it’s not just tonight. they’re calling attention to what our manager is not paying attention to.
Booing
You don’t boo your own players, but this is seriously ridiculous. Izzy stinks this year.
"Jimmy told me, 'If you keep it right there at two runs and no more, we'll win this game,'" Wainwright said. "'Me and Albert will get the job done."
The good news here
Is that Turnbow just became available…j/k
