Wainwright pretty steady tonight

One mildly hairy inning, but he got out of it with minimal damage.

Now, if only TLR would stop overthinking everything.

I just can't believe the marginal gains

of a lefty vs. righty matchup that TLR got outwiegh the possibility of having Skip available for a high leverage L/R matchup late in the game.

TLR just needs to learn to sit on his GD hands sometimes.

Pretty consistent, really. Even their RISP with 2 outs is .265 with an OPS of .774

It’s just with the OBP of the team so high, you get a lot of LOB.

I'm sorry but I'm sick of the "not injured, not injured, whoops season ending surgery" dance

Please. We have the pitchers. If he needs rest, rest him. Don’t put him out there to get beat up on.

Good ol' Izzy

Can’t be easy can it?

I’d say 50/50 DLee hits a solo shot.

Izzy will make those who think he should lose his job look stupid eventually. Not this game though.

That cutter

Has blown so many games for the cards.

Excuse me. Is your gun loaded?

Could you do me a favor? Could… could you kill me?

by Phizzle on May 2, 2008 11:06 PM EDT reply actions

If We Lose a Game...

in which we knocked the opposing team’s starter out in the first inning, that’s a true blue embarrassment.

Oh come on

stop.

IZZY’s only human. you hang em & players bang em.

the Cards O should have scored 8 runs tonight. IZZY shouldn’t even be in there right now.

You make a good point

But he’s paid to NOT make this happen, and it’s happening a lot lately. If I didn’t do my job correctly all the time, I’d be fired.

Rasmus or bust.

And..

It should have been a 1 run HR.

by Evilfrog on May 2, 2008 11:08 PM EDT up reply actions

true, they should have scored more...

but it’s Izzy’s job to close it down in the close ones. no matter what the O does.

Blown saves happen.

A 7+ ERA by the man you need to step up and be your closer should not. Izzy is simply not getting the job done.

Hey now...

Izzy’s just trying to get himself another win.

The Dude abides.

He's

actually setting up Rick or Albert to be tonight’s hero

by DisplacedCardsFan on May 2, 2008 11:09 PM EDT up reply actions

4 wins EVERY season

is kind of suspicious for a closer, no?

Exactly

Can’t say I’d join in (against my standards) but I will NOT blame them.

Rasmus or bust.

Sorry

I don’t think paying for tickets entitles you to be a jerk. Then we are no better than the scrubs fans.

Yeah...

that’s the definition of class. “I paid my god damn money, I’ll do whatever I want.”

even the cubs announcers are saying...

izzy’s cutter isn’t cutting. if they can see it – why doesn’t duncan or tony?

by RedbirdAvenger on May 2, 2008 11:08 PM EDT reply actions

Really tired

of fans at the stadium booing the home team.

Especially with the Cubs in town, we oughta be showing him how it’s done.

If Fontenot reaches

and Fukudome gets up, look out.

by LukeMP1186 on May 2, 2008 11:09 PM EDT reply actions

It seems like it's been happening

more often over the last two or three seasons. I hate it, and am also embarrassed.

by mikeonthecards on May 2, 2008 11:16 PM EDT up reply actions

REGARDING BOOING

let’s be clear: if there is one thing worth booing, it’s izzy’s performance thus far this season.

the fans are responding the the consistency of his poor performance – it’s not just tonight. they’re calling attention to what our manager is not paying attention to.

by RedbirdAvenger on May 2, 2008 11:10 PM EDT reply actions

Booing

Will not make Izzy pitch any better.

by TheBirds on May 2, 2008 11:12 PM EDT up reply actions

Booing

You don’t boo your own players, but this is seriously ridiculous. Izzy stinks this year.

"Jimmy told me, 'If you keep it right there at two runs and no more, we'll win this game,'" Wainwright said. "'Me and Albert will get the job done."
