Game 47 overflow

wellemeyer only has 3 swinging strikes so far in this game --- 2 of which were by the pitcher, ledezma. i don't think 3 runs are gonna be enough tonight . . . . . we head to the 4th.

it’s to the point where we should either give him back to the Indians or work out a deal so that we can send him down for seasoning.

It's ridiculous that every other OF already has

50-100 more ABs than Barton does this season.

Then when he struggles, people wonder why. He sees major league pitching maybe 7 times a week.

For someone who has no real batting experience in the MLB level, how’s he going to learn from leveraged ph duties?

"No doubt"
Means the ball cleared the fence by at least 20 vertical feet AND landed at least 50 feet past the fence. These are the really deep blasts.

For reference, Adam Dunn led the league in “no doubts” with 14 last year. We’re a 1/4 the way through the year, I’m guessing Pujols is going to go on a HR binge at some point.

Nearly all homers 500+ feet are hit to the power alleys

You get more batspeed at that point in the zone, hence “power alley”.

by AdjustedExpectations on May 20, 2008 12:08 AM EDT up reply actions

disagree

duncan has the ability to have more power than anyone on the team, with the possible exception of pujols (dunc’s HR/FB ratio was higher than alberts in 2006). If there is a chance of him putting it back together again, he needs to be given the shot.

I like Barton, and he has much, much more potential than schumaker. I think there is an obvious solution to this dilimna that does not involve sitting duncan on the bench.
