2 more lob in scoring position. thank god we are winning by 4 otherwise i’d be much more upset right now.

Im ok with 2 LOB when 4 get plated. Its the 2 LOB when no one comes across that hurts.

How is he doing it?

When we played them, if you threw him straight junk, he was an easy K. Why does anybody ever throw him fastballs?

Look at gameday

Both of his homeruns, as well as Soto’s double game on Fastballs down the middle. It’s completely a mystery to me when pitchers aren’t seeing that.

I hate it but

the Cubs are damn near unbeatable at Wrigley this year. It would take a massive meltdown for them not to win the Central this year. They are a scoring machine at Wrigley no matter who they play.

Good News!

It’s the Cubs. Meltdowns are what they do.

Waino needs to close them out without letting them score here

it’s what Pineiro couldn’t do versus the Pirates after we took a big lead.

Cliff Floyd?

I was wondering what happened to him. Last I saw him he was trying a Gibson impersonation that ended in a groundout against Wainer in game 7 of the 06 NLCS.

by cloistermaximus on May 17, 2008 3:15 PM EDT reply actions

I'm pretty sure he grounded out on a 12-6 curveball

Because I remember after he struck out Beltran looking, the response to “Why didn’t he at least try to swing at that” was “Cliff Floyd did, and he just grounded out softly. Beltran’s only hope would be that it missed the zone… and it didn’t”

The bottom of the 9th of that game was the most nerve-racking baseball of my entire life. I’m pretty sure it took years off of my life, but the ensuing celebration added them back on :)

Without a doubt

The WS was almost boring in comparison. That Game 7 was such a great game.. Not just because we won to clinch the NL, but it was just an all around great game with that catch from Endy Chavezm, Soup and Perez matching zeros, Molinas heroics, and the game ending with the bases loaded, where one pitch meant one team would win, and one would lose.

by cloistermaximus on May 17, 2008 3:23 PM EDT up reply actions

yeah

that world series win almost didn’t count it was so boring

The scenario for the NLCS game 7

Was more exciting. The Series win was more satisfaction and elation, but the NLCS game was just adrenaline and a hoarse scream when Beltran just let that ball go. I’m pretty sure my roommates hated me that night.

Endy's catch

That was one of those moments where I just KNEW we weren’t going to win. That’s one of those amazing plays/happenings that is a hallmark of a team of destiny or something like that.

I hated hated HATED it at the time, but now I love that catch. I guess I’d still hate it if the outcome were different, but I get chills whenever I watch it. I love both Endy’s reaction and Perez’s look of shock as the ball gets into the infield to double up Jimmy.

It can't possibly be

TLR can’t be that dumb. You send the runner on 3-2, you don’t hit and run with 2 strikes. If Miles doesn’t get a jump he absolutely cannot go.

With no evidence to the contrary, Colby Rasmus is clutch

by joker24 on May 17, 2008 4:43 PM EDT up reply actions

what?

3-2 is the best time to start the runner? And with albert on at the plate? A single wins it with the runner started. Blame Pujols for not getting the bat on the ball there.
