acceptable or just weird
I've been going to baseball games since I was around 2 (I have the pictures to prove it). And when I was young I would always bring my glove. Nothing wrong with that. But now I've reached the ripe age of 26. My question is, is it wrong to bring my glove. I know where your sitting will play into if it's wierd or not. Please tell me what you think. Thanks

A glove at a baseball game
is never weird, no matter the age of the wearer. That’s what this girl thinks.
Dan Patrick
He had a great segment on his show a week or so back on just this topic. A few highlights:
“If you’re old enough to drink beer, you’re too old to bring your glove”
“Bringing a glove to a game is like bringing your older brother on a date—you need all the help you can get because you’re a bit pathetic”
“Only Cubs fans should bring gloves to games—no other fans have that much false hope”
the last one is definitely my favorite—I think it was called in by a Brewers fan.

As evidence of this
I submit this…

Would never make fun of someone bringing a glove, but if you’re in a section beginning with the number 3 or 4, it does start to get a bit far-fetched.
Personally, I think we got hosed on that call.

yeah
thats the thing my tickets for the whole series in san diego are three rows behind the cardinals dugout.
Being that close, though
bringing a glove is never a bad idea, if only for self-preservation purposes from a line-drive foul. :-)
Personally, I think we got hosed on that call.

i think it's a little weird

...boiler up.

The girl said It’s okay. Being that I don’t care what the guys think about me. Only what the girls think about me… It’s okay.
Looks like I am in the minority
on this one, but I stand by my original comment.

bring a ball cap...
if I can’t bare hand it or snag it with my cap I got no business catching it.
Something just doesn’t look right when anyone over the age of 15 is wearing a glove in the stands.
I always bring a glove.
Got a ball from Joel this year, and I get balls for nearby kids around 3 to 4 times a year out of around 8 to 10 games. Nothing wrong with bringing a glove. I always attend BP and sometimes I sit in foul territory. My gal would murder me if I let a ball hit her.
So that’s two women who approve of the glove at the park.
Rasmus or bust.
I'm in the minority too
I always bring a glove. I go to BP before each game in hopes of catching a practice home run. I caught one from Duncan a couple of years that stung my hand. Franklin threw me a ball last year and Ray King tried to throw me a ball until some punk-ass kid ran right in front of me and caught it. After I caught a home run ball, I always bring my glove if I’m sitting in the outfield stands. So, anyway, I had a couple of experiences that make me always bring my glove to a game….and I’m 27.
Don't judge me!!!
My dad
I took my dad to a game last season. We were sitting straight back from the plate in one of the last rows of the lower deck (got the tickets from a rich friend, I cannot personally afford those). I went to the bathroom and got back like two pitches into an inning. Turns out my dad had a pop up come literally right at him, but he had 9 dollars worth of Bud in one hand and a bag of peanuts in the other. He told me he would rather have the beer and the peanuts than the ball, so he let the guy right behind reach over his bald head and take the ball. I was so pissed at him…
...but then again it was a 9 dollar beer.

I think
that if you have played baseball on a field with 90 ft between bases, you shouldn’t bring a glove to the game.
For those of you who are saying it is protection, you need to just use your bare hands or your body. It’s not a bullet, it’s a baseball. It will heal.
After further thought, I would allow a surgeon to use a glove, since a hand injury could cause complications and place other people’s lives at stake.
And on another note, I can’t recall ever making fun of anyone for having hurt their hand when trying to catch a foul ball barehanded. I do recall making fun of someone for catching a foul ball with a glove on and then complaining about how it stung your hand. Suck it up. There’s no crying in baseball.
People also
should not make fun of someone who misses a catch without a glove, but if you are wearing a glove and miss the catch…Let the humiliation begin.
If you do bring a glove to a game, at least make sure it looks like it has been used before.
Don't do it
The chances of you even needing the glove are so low that it’s pointless. Plus, if you catch a foul ball with your bare hands, you’d be a lot cooler.
