Studwick

Then bring in Ludwick for a pinch hit solo homer in the 7th or 8th.

by paposse on May 15, 2008 1:12 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

yeah, our 2-7 suddenly don't look so bad...

what with pujols, ank, glaus and molina all seemingly heating up, and kennedy staying hopefully staying hot.

by RedbirdAvenger on May 15, 2008 1:13 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

The key to me is Glaus

Hope last few games were sign of things to come.

Also I like Dunc in the 2 spot. Back to seeing fastballs.

I agree about Glaus

if he can hit .290 watch out

Despite the homer

8 pitch inning for Joe-L. Gameday shows his strikes to LaRoche and Michaels up in the zone. That what happened to Nate?

Cardinals series record

7 wins, 2 losses, 4 ties. Just keep winning series boys, starting with this one today!

The sad thing about McClouth is that the Pirates

seem more than content on actually keeping the guy instead of turning his hot start into very good prospects. Their minor league system is awful and they need a full fledged rebuilding but won’t part with McClouth.

Homerun/Strikeout Ratio

Can someone with a subscription to baseball-reference do a search to find out how many hitters have a ratio greater than 1? Pujols came oh-so-close in 2006 (49HR, 51K).

I know Ted Williams did it four times, Johnny Mize once… (via fangraphs)

I'm pretty sure Tony Gwynn did it once or twice.

The best Gwynn ever did was 16 HR to 18 SO. I knew he was close.

Ted Williams did it 3 times, but 2 of them were limited AB's.

Dimaggio

Joltin’ Joe did it 7 times.

Given that the strikeout rate has doubled since the 1940s, Albert’s performance is just as impressive.

by ncgostl on May 15, 2008 2:44 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

BTW, Dimaggio’s career line was 361 HR/369 SO

early on. Both teams seem to be in a hurry to get this one over with.

Drinking at noon gets you ready for graduate school. Granted, I don’t think I’ve ever started that early, either. Although, the night I waited for my NY bar exam results, I started at about 4:30 and went through to the 2 AM champagne.

it might be 30 LOB.

extra innings would be required...

and since this game is gonna get called anyway…
