I wouldn’t argue either way. For some reason I thought it was the ninth, in which case I’d send him for sure- but it’s just the 8th, so there’s no chance of the cgso.

Not to put a damper on the great win or anything

But these facts come from the ESPN Recap of the game:

15 LOB, 1 behind the season-high (which was in an extra-innings game)
364 men left on in 42 games this season; avg. = 8.67—This is the most in MLB

is there any data available

on what the season record for most LOB is? There’s no LOB available at B-R, afaik.

Love this bit:

“For good measure, Ankiel tacked on a strong, unnecessary throw to the infield that nearly struck LaRoche as he was heading back to the dugout.”

though Dan said it did hit him, which was much cooler at the time.

By the way

anyone that didn’t have the pleasure of the Pirates broadcast this evening missed a real treat. The Cardinals were only getting baserunners against Malholm because of bad luck for the mighty Steel City hurler. The balls left up in the zone just happened to hit the sweet spot of the Cardinals hitter’s bats.

Then, they were ripping on Mike and John for having such a cushy pbp booth. Mike apparently had told Bob Walk he could have anything he wanted to eat or drink from the well-stocked booth and Walk used the opportunity to observe that it was almost like a party suite up there and then mocked the Cardinals broadcaster for having such a nice place. He even tried a mimicky Shannon voice.

Truly classy stuff.

aww man

I’ve been stuck with non-STL announcers for something like 10 games straight, and was actually stoked to have Dan and Al tonight. Shame that there was actually something worth listening to on the Steelville side tonight.

(the MIL announcers were flat-out intolerable…)

I was

I actually like it when the Cards play Pittsburgh so I can lounge on the couch while watching FSN instead of sitting at the computer.

But that said, yeah they had an excuse for every hit. Someone out of position, lucky hops, etc etc. But to be fair it did seem like the Cards lit it up with infield hits last night. Those get irritating in a hurry.

And I thought he did a pretty good Shannon.
