should we be

thanking backes for getting into an argument with albert before tonights game? It seems like Albert feeds off of that guy.

by Ankiels Missing Curveball on Apr 9, 2008 11:01 PM EDT up reply actions

Albert decided to talk to Backes as the Stros were leaving the field after bp..

because apparently Backes wasn't happy with Albert's slide at home last night at home. Even after Al called Towles to apologize about it. Backes got mad thought Al was trying to talk to him about it at the wrong time and being unproffesional. They then had words. Now Albert hits his first two of the season. (not to mention that Albert said he was upset at Backes in the 05 nlcs for celebrating early. Albert proceeded to devastate Lidge's psyche)

And El Hombre

Yup, Pujols basically said he made a deal with God

to get him up to bat in the 9th inning because of Backe.

That's alot to lay on 1 guy.

I'm quoting Backe again

"It’s apparent that we don’t like each other," he said. "That’s OK. There’s plenty of other people I don’t like in this game. It doesn’t matter. The competition between he and I just escalated."

Yea, smart move dumbass...

Your team thanks you.

that hole thing is gay

he tried to appologize and a backe wouldn t let it go so they jaw at eachother tonight? If it wasnt for this does anyone know who brandon backe is anyway? how many times a year you talk about him anyway?

You think the Pirates could set a record

for most extra innings played in a season? They're in the 14th right now, and they've played at least two other long ones already.

It'll sound bad

but I almost wish that the Stros had Backes pitching tonight so the little F'er would have thrown at Albert, I believe he would have destroyed a window out in left on the Houston UNion Station, and blown the smoke stack off of that assanine train!

Great game tonight!

I just wanted to drop in and point out that Albert should be on pace for 54 homers....but that damn rain out cost him one. Is it me, or is the rain out rule the absolute worst rule in all of professional sports? It's terrible. It really is. Many Cards were having great games and then they just have to act like it never happen? Seems very illogical.

Anyways, I'm done venting, though we all know this team should be 8-1 rather than 7-2. But I'll live with it.

Can't wait for Wagonmaker tomorrow night against the Giants. I'm feeling another solid 8 innings, giving up a run or two!!

by Matty I on Apr 10, 2008 12:17 AM EDT reply actions

I can think of a couple of pretty bad rules

I don't know if I think they're worse than the rainout, but up there with it:

1) The Designated Hitter...I hate it

2) The "ghost" tag of second base when turning a double-play. I think you should touch the bag if you're gonna get an out.

thats true

if by "options and strategies" you mean go for the 3-run homer instead of worrying about bunting/squeeze plays/ect.

by bosman on Apr 10, 2008 1:14 AM EDT up reply actions

Anyone see this over at rotoworld?

"After the game, the Cardinals announced the acquisition of Brandon Backe. They don't need the pitching help; they just want him to start yelling at Pujols during batting practice every night."

There's an idea!!

by Matty I on Apr 10, 2008 12:52 AM EDT reply actions

Ah,

I can't wait, I will be going to the next three games in SF. So if you see a guy decked out in Cardinal gear going crazy over Pujols home runs and Wainright's K's, that's me.
