| Thomps'n | Chacon |
| 1-0, 0.00 | 0-0, 3.00 |
i was kinda surprised the cards didn't take a flyer on chacon. he's a pitch-to-contact, keep-the-ball-down kind of pitcher. he desperately wanted to come back to colorado, his hometown team and the one he broke in with, but the rockies preferred kip wells and mark redman for some (probably bad) reason.
thompson's career OPS allowed at minute maid (sample-size alarm: only 28 PA) is 1.262; career ERA is 8.44 in 5 and a third. he's given up more homers at the juice than any other park except busch III.

over at the Pressbox, and Skip is leading off. Most fans are probably unhappy with that considering the early play of Barton, but here's to hoping Skip gets off the schneid tonight in a big way, and Thompson keeps the early run of starting pitching success going.
I know it's probably going to come back to the expected level sooner rather than later, but let's hope Thompson makes LaDunc's decision as difficult as possible.

If I was my dad, effin fisk
I'd be yelling at you that you've just jinxed Thompson, the Cards and two generations of fans for that comment.
But being that the page you refer to has been torn out and stored in Memphis and the book has been burned in Duncan's trash can two weeks ago, I will not have to yell at you.

ok, im a bit naive, i guess, but could someone tell me what injury yadi has that larue is taking over for him again? or does larue just catch thompson usually?
by krippledmaster on Apr 8, 2008 7:21 PM EDT 0 recs
Is Yadi hurt?
I assumed it was just because catchers have to squat a lot, so they need a good old fashioned day off once and a while.

if i had an EDIT button i could be able to make that D an R & push the R & L together like they belong. i'd be freaking dangerous if i could ever learn how to type & spell correctly.

Regular Rest
I would assume Yadi is just getting some regular rest. Catchers need a little more time off than other position players.

I just think TLR is resting him
on an occasional basis, because there is no off day for awhile.
Not sure on that, though.

also...
was it that hard to just press the "o" for thompson, or was it necessary to use the apostrophe?

Poetic license I think.
Also it keeps the name short so it fits nicely over the W,L ERA.

But what he's saying
is that he's using the apostrophe to take out one letter (a one-to-one trade) it would be different if he did t'son or something like hat.

Blackouts
I tried that package that provides for Fox Sports Regional channels for a while, but you get blacked out when the Cubs or the White Sox play, or other circumstances that I never could figure out. Only way to get the games here is to lay down the big bucks for the EI package. Then you still have Fox blackouts on Saturdays and ESPN blackouts on Sunday night.

When I was a kid growing up in Colorado, the only radio that could pick up KMOX and Harry Carey and Jack Buck was my dad's pickup and I had to sit out there all night with the coyotes circling me.

Sedgwick's
In Lincoln Park -- often has the game on. I have the Extra Innings package -- totally worth it for me -- so don't get there too much, but have heard recently through a network of other Cardinals fans in town that they are showing the games this year. (They have EI, too - or at least they did last year - so they have the Fox blackout restrictions, etc.)
