well, you have a pitcher

who historically walks almost 4 hitters per 9 IP, and a guy up to bat who has a tremendous batting eye. So you pinch hit with a guy who strikes out a lot and swings at bad pitches.

If Tony would play the best players

then Ludwick would play everyday. But as i’ve said dozens of times….there is no defense for Tony’s decision to bench Ludwick against right handed pitchers. NONE! Take turns benching one of the lefty OF’s and keep Ludwick in there/

it’s easy to see looking at Duncan’s splits that if you are going to bench Ludwick – you would do it against RH. Duncan’s career splits against RH is still better than Ludwick’s career splits against RH.

Izturis

would’ve been batting lefty with Gagne pitching, so it’s his non-throwing elbow that took the pitch.

Essentially

Gagne had bert reachin on an 0-2 pitch? i think…grounder to short, relay to second good(runner out at second), relay to first bad throw, it bounced, fielder couldnt glove it…runner from third scores.

by brindled on Apr 22, 2008 4:28 PM EDT up reply actions

It's usually after something like that

which causes Gagne to implode.

if iz2 can’t tough it out, i’m guessing ankiel stays in, and schumaker takes one of the mif spots.
