Parra now has 106 pitches ...
It’s our pen against their’s …
Culture of Winning: 10 World Championships, 17 Pennants, 6 Division Championships ...
so in 5 innings
9 hits, 2 walks, a balk, an error and a wild pitch, and we’ve scored three runs.
And I awoke in California, far far from Spancilhill...
Jeezy fucking Creezy

Nice DP Thompson
Glaus to Miles to cutoff man to Pujols.

I actually checked gameday

Jimmy steps in to lead off the bottom half of the inning... with nobody on base... It could happen... just not tonight.
this is maybe Thompson's
last appearance before we call up Ryan.
Makes sense
We sent down an infielder to bring back a pitcher, so we need to reciprocate it

Depends on the situation.
But if he’s facing a lefty, you can expect a large dose of sliders in the dirt judging by his last at bat.

well, you have a pitcher
who historically walks almost 4 hitters per 9 IP, and a guy up to bat who has a tremendous batting eye. So you pinch hit with a guy who strikes out a lot and swings at bad pitches.
This was just a stupid move on so many levels…

TLR's use of Barton and Ludwick
is just horrible. There is no arguement for it. Barton and Ludwick are both hitting righties better then lefties but only face lefties. So much so that you burn pinch hitters to avoid having them face righties. TERRIBLE!!!

I have next zero confidence
of this teaming coming back from four runs down. Just not built to come back from large deficits.
which is why they've come back from down 5-0 against a bullpen that isn't nearly as bad....
They’ve already done it this year against the Giants, and I’d say their bullpen is better than Milwaukee’s. Plus, the Cards have quite a few players who are due (LaRue, Ankiel, Glaus…). I’m not throwing in the towel on this one yet. Just pick up 2-3 runs and get it into the ninth against Gagne.

If Tony would play the best players
then Ludwick would play everyday. But as i’ve said dozens of times….there is no defense for Tony’s decision to bench Ludwick against right handed pitchers. NONE! Take turns benching one of the lefty OF’s and keep Ludwick in there/
Duncan
it’s easy to see looking at Duncan’s splits that if you are going to bench Ludwick – you would do it against RH. Duncan’s career splits against RH is still better than Ludwick’s career splits against RH.
Ludwick is better than Duncan against LH pitching.
Would you believe

Agreed
All this talk about what we’re doing in the 9th could be moot if we don’t get some solid pitching right here

3-1 cubs but 9 spot up next innning for the mets
K-Mac's fastball
That tailing in action is just ridiculous.
Sickening.
When he starts throwing that down and in for strikes, he’s going to be near unhittable.
K-Mac does his Job. Let's hope Izzy has to warm up!
Or better yet, A.Reyes! (which only happens if we get a lot of runs)
40th anniversary of Gibson's 1.12 ERA, Think he could pitch in the bullpen now?
Lets go Cardinals!!!
Lets take this game!!!!

oops
is he hurt? I’m using Gameday today, so I didn’t realize it was a painful HBP. I wish no ill will on him.
YES!
Iz2 found a way!

Iz2 gets a "hit" one way or another
Course if he can’t field then molina would have to go play SS!

Molina is the only bench player. Him or LaRue to Short??
40th anniversary of Gibson's 1.12 ERA, Think he could pitch in the bullpen now?
larue can play second
miles to short, larue to second, molina to catch.
Or stick larue in LF and skip at second… and tell izzy to strike ‘em all out.
And I awoke in California, far far from Spancilhill...
Ya, drilled in the elbow
major pain.

Essentially
Gagne had bert reachin on an 0-2 pitch? i think…grounder to short, relay to second good(runner out at second), relay to first bad throw, it bounced, fielder couldnt glove it…runner from third scores.
It's usually after something like that
which causes Gagne to implode.

no, kennedy was replaced
by mcclellan. that’s what makes this interesting.
if iz2 can’t tough it out, i’m guessing ankiel stays in, and schumaker takes one of the mif spots.
this could get veeeeeeery interesting.
