Cy Welley!
Out of all the pitching surprises for the Birds this early in the season, Welley surprises me the most.

No doubt ...
Although I’d be remiss to admit that I never thought Looper would have been as consistent as he’s been … but Welley is completely surprising with his aggressiveness … and his K total …

Loop's
successful conversion to a starter was HUGE last year. Gotta love seeing Cards’ draftees eventually pan out…and I do mean eventually.

I just want barton on the bases so i can see him ly again, he is quick as hell, or he might be slow and I have not been used to seeing speed in STL baseball.

He left Wainer in WAY to long last start … perhaps he is really counting on the Phase 2 pitching staff to spell these guys later … which explains Welley but not Wainer …

He has the lead, tony is seeing how welley handles it. Flawlessly, he pumped in the strikes and got through them bottom part of their lineup no probelm I would say it was the right call. Even if he started falling apart he had the bullpen ready to go,

the beauty is that if we can completely destroy their bullpen, this will be a great series.

I hear you ...
There always seems to be a let-down after a big game like this, doesn’t there … hopefully Tony will keep them up … if we can get Cain, we can get Lincecum … or at least the team should think so …

so i’m still at work, but i checked the score, and in the words of kim jong il, “herro!” what the hell happened – did cain just not have it tonight?
anyway, certainly good to see – games like this really set up the team well for the rest of the series.

We collectively had our hitting shoes on tonight ...
but Duncan was on fire … I tip my hat to Tony in using his ‘counter-intuitive thinking’ to start him … it was obviously a good call … however, the way our outfielders are hitting, it would have been difficult to make a bad call …

Which is primarily one of the reasons they're doing so good ..
I mean they’ve looked confident and loose since the third week of ST … it’s been fantastic …

I can’t wait, I’m moving to Decatur after I graduate, I’m hoping to make it to a lot of Springfield games.

What the heck...
Conor Jackson was a double away from the cycle, and he hits another triple….
If it was a close game, I wouldn’t blame him for taking the third bag, but they were blowing the team out, stop at 2nd and make history.

i was supposed to be at the game tonight, but i couldn’t so i was pretty bummed out. thats why i stayed away from the threads tonight. i’m glad the boys bats weren’t as bummed out as i was that i couldn’t be there.
especially Albert’s. man, what a bomb.
oh well. hopefully i’ll have more chances to see the boys play at home.
