Lou Brock

Seems very intelligent, and is making a lot of good points about the decline of baseball playing among American youth. I read a very good article today at Fantasy Baseball Generals that articulated how the Amateur Draft is causing that decline, both in America and Puerto Rico, and is causing teams to shift their focus to Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and other Latin countries. Highly recommended reading for anyone interested. Lou made the same point, about how in most Latin countries, kids can sign at 16, but in America you have to wait til 18-19. Needs to be a change.

one thing that won't change

is how cheap the teams can get the kids from the Caribbean & South America.

thats the biggest reason why teams are down there. players are so cheap down there compared to up here.
