Spiezio released by Braves
The sad saga continues for Spiezio. I don't know the specificas on his "not being ready to play", but I'm sure it has something to do with drugs or alcohol. I hope Scott can get his life under control and perhaps get another shot with a club next year. He's making poor decisions in his free time, I guess.

That's very sad
And difficult to understand. Your life's on the line and you still can't avoid showing up for work hungover.

well
his job is on the line, not necessarily his life. He's supposed to go to AA meetings and continue his addiction rehab, and its obvious he can't do that and play baseball at the same time. He did alright for the braves' AAA team, hitting over .300 in 5 games for 'em.

i understand the sympathy and all
but there comes a point when someone needs a kick in the pants. scott needs a serious kick in the pants, if not more then that.
Amaury translates into "Punisher of Spheroids" in the lost tongue of Atlantis. Marti means "Belgian Waffle."

Maybe this is it
losing your livelihood and not being able to play the game you love might fall into the category of "kick in the pants"...at least it should.
As for his life being on the line, that is not an overstatement. I don't want to get all emo on you all, but IF he has a problem (and I don't know because I'm not there) and IF he doesn't get the help he needs, then his life will be affected that makes not being able to play baseball seem minor by comparison.
I am truly sorry for him...those of us who have been there know this is not an easy thing to get over.

losing his livelihood?
Naw. Cardinals gave him 2.4 million dollars to walk. It's hard to imange that someone would have game him more after his two years were up anyway.
Now losing baseball. That might be a bit rough. I think trying to get back into baseball would be a better motive to stay sober than trying to be a Rockstar. But he has no one but himself to blame.

Needs to be At Home
I think the article had it right. This guy needs to get off the road, and back home with his family, who presumably can better hold him accountable. Being on the road is notorious for inspiring bad behavior.

spiezio
not ready to play = drunk, just my guess but i bet he showed up hammered or on something.
I think the guy just needs to take a year off, get himself cleaned up (& out). I hope for him he can, the guy has an obvious passion for baseball wish him the best of luck
