Jason LaRue
I have a question to ask all of you who have been able to watch the games this year. I'm in Dublin at the moment, and I will not return to the States until late May. Thus, I haven't been able to watch any games this year. Granted, I do live in an area where I'm not able to watch many Cards games anyway, but I definitely would have been able to catch a few by now anyway.
Anyways, I was wondering about Mr. LaRue. I listen to the games on the MLB.com radio package, and it seems that Jason has been doing pretty well on the defensive end. However that glaring batting average of .000 keeps staring at me. Granted, he has only had (at the time of this posting) 9 at bats, and that is a small sample size. My question to you is: Is he looking good at the plate at all? Does anyone expect him to do better than his putrid .148 batting average of the last campaign?

Pornstar LaRue
He's looked terrible at the plate, striking out liberally.
He has, however, looked great with the porn star fu manchu and firey long hair. That might be reason enough to keep him around.

Might he become
the new Spiezio, staring a trend of people wearing porn star mustaches at Busch Stadium, rather than the imperial?

hmmm
it depends on how well he performs when he's asked to. One thing Spiezio did, especially in 06, was come thru in the clutch and do well when he started. If larue can do that, you could see more porn staches at the park.
I'd say Spiezio was the bench clutch guy in 06, and ludwick was easily the bench clutch guy in 07, probably continue it in 08 as well.

La rue hit good in early ST
and I hoped it was real, but he has looked very bad in early season. hope it don't last because a backup catcher usually gets a 150 at bats.

9 at-bats isn't a small sample size for one thing --
a .000 batting average. That's just plain scary. He better get at least one hit in his next game.
On with the (good) youth movement!

I'll grow out a porn star 'stache
regardless if LaRue does well or not. Nothing screams "stay far away from this man" than a LaRue 'stache.
Rasmus or bust.

What
was the reason for not just holding on to Gary Bennett? He ended up with the Dodgers...

Bennet couldn't throw
The Cards wanted a backup catcher who could do a better job of stopping the running game. GB was not very good at that last year (4 caught in 28 attempts)

I really liked the signing of LaRue
but he has looked pitiful at the plate. Hopefully this won't last. The guys over at RoyalsReview would be laughing their asses off if they saw this fanpost as he was their whipping boy last year and for good reason

yes
he's terrible, but it's eerily reminiscient of the fu manchu that made sal fasano (who was similarly terrible) a cult hero in philadelphia. just sayin'.

Fasano
I actually have an hilarious Sal Fasano t-shirt. One of my friends, who is a Phillies fan, was a proud member of Sal's Pals, so I got it as a gag. Nice t-shirt. I got it from Sal's website, which was hilariously titled AthletesWorldwide.com
