Holy Rain

I was just outside and it is pouring so freaking bad right now. I literally got dripping soaking wet in 7 seconds. This game will probably be rained out.

I would call that

Think of it this way

Opening Day will be one day closer to the return of Chris Carpenter.

Rain is good luck...

On your wedding day. So why can't being rained out good luck on opening day? Anyone one know when the last time the home opener was rained out for the Cardinals?

by Evilfrog on Mar 31, 2008 3:30 PM EDT to parent up   0 recs

It's passing quickly

It was pouring in Creve Couer a 1/2 hour ago, but it's just barely drizzling now.

Radar

looks like there's a long string of storms.

Depends on how far North they go vs. how fast they go East.

At least we're not opening against the Cubs

so that we can avoid combining this with a giant flame war that ends in a bunch of bannings.

i participated in a game thread

last night over at lookout landing. they were having an open thread for the braves game and the thing held together pretty well. the load times were kind of slow once the comment count got up (200+) for people trying to load the entire thread.

i would suggest firefox as IE has been somewhat problematic.

Awesome to see the first game thead up! Let's start surprising the "experts".

Me likee baseball

I'm taking a late, long lunch hour to watch the game today. Is the game supposed to start on time? I want to maximize my watch time.

Also, anyone know a good site for tracking down sports bars that have the MLB package? Maybe a google maps-based platform or something? LA's a little too big to go the trial and error route, especially when the first 3 places I called today don't get the game.

by effin fisk on Mar 31, 2008 3:38 PM EDT   0 recs

BJ's pizza place

usually has it on, if you don't mind corporate joints. Also the "yard house". There's one of those in pretty much every mall in the city.

What part of LA are you in?

West LA

I've been to BJs before, but I'm not sure of the closest location. Good idea though. I'll check it out.

I work in west LA and live in Santa Monica. Anyplace between Culver City and Beverly Hills would work for me.

for those of us on Extra Innings (about to go Extra Innings in Detroit)? They suspended the game in Chicago.

RE: the new platform

I thought I remember being able to collapse conversations down to save space. Did that feature not make it through to the final product? I don't see it.

I doubt I'd even use it. Just curious.
