MLB Video/Audio Q/A

Hello girls and boys,

I know that this isn't worth a diary and that it has been done before to some extent, but I am trying to decide on what MLB package to purchase and I need some input from actual people who use the services.

I have a few questions that I am hoping you guys can answer.

1. IF the premium video package is purchased, can you get the audio feed on days when the video is in blackout?

2 Is the video feed reliable and what kind of connection will work with the premium (I have comcast high speed cable internet)?

3. Can you have the same user logged into the game from two different locations at the same time.

I will appreciate the info.

Related to Q3:

I have MLB audio, and I don't think the same user can be logged on at two machines. A related thing they do (at least they did through last year; don't know if it's changed this year) is that you can't log on more than twice in a given time period - I think 2-3 hours. This is presumably to keep multiple people from using the same account; but if you're going back and forth between home, work, etc., it can be a hassle.

They also used to have terrible technical problems with macs, where you would log in, start a game, and the browser would frequently crash. If that happened twice, you were screwed (I tried calling tech support sometimes, but the wait times were bad and sometimes they would pretend they couldn't reset my account). So far the new platform seems far more stable, but we'll see....

Login twice

You're partially right BTown Birds fan. You can log in as many times as you want but ONLY if you logged out first. In other words, if you were logged in and were watching the video and you closed the browser and came back in and did that again it would lock you out. BUT, if you clicked logout on the mlb.com website or stlcardinals.com website and then closed the video you could log in unlimited times.

I found this out because i have a laptop and a desktop at home and wanted to switch several times and found that out.

And as far as being logged into multiple places i think you can be logged in multiple places unless they changed it.

Thanks, that's useful to know

I always just closed my browser instead of officially logging out. I talked to more than one person at MLB Audio tech support about it last year - I'm surprised they didn't tell me that (I guess I'm not actually that surprised, because they had some pretty crappy tech support; hopefully it's better too).

Thanks

That is great info to know. To me the most pressing issue is Q1. When games are blacked out can you listen to the audio. Or, when I am at work, can I just listen to the audio and not pull up the video?

audio

you can get the audio for all of the games, i believe..no blackouts. you cannot listen to the audio feed while watching the video, but with each increasingly expensive subscription, you get all of the features of the ones below it. so mlb.tv or mlb.tv premium will allow you to listen to audio feeds or watch the video.

i had much better luck last season on a mac than i had the season before that. and this spring training i've had no troubles. audio feeds have always been less problematic for me than video feeds.

Questions

1. Yes, you can always listen to the audio.

2 Video feed has always been reliable for me. I had some problems with the new Silverlight player, but everything is running smooth now.

3. I've been able to log in on I think 4 computers at once, but have heard of it blocking when more than that are connected to one account.

OT: MLB Extra Innings

As Will Leitch on deadspin brought to attention something I've been dealing with for 2 weeks now:

IS MLB EXTRA INNINGS EVER GOING TO RELEASE THE SCHEDULES? The games start MONDAY!

Still looking for 1985 Regular Season games on DVD/VHS
